Socialism on the Rise: Dem Literally Wants Government in 'Every Single Facet' of Your Life

Share

Democrats are becoming more brazen about their love for socialism.

Recently that sentiment was displayed by the radical socialist rhetoric of Ugo Okere, a Democratic candidate for Chicago city council.

In an interview with the blatantly socialist magazine Jacobin, Okere said that “democratic socialism” should have control over “every single facet of our life.”

“Democratic socialism, to me, is about democratic control of every single facet of our life,” Okere said.

“Government is led by the people, not by big corporations, not by multibillionaires, and working people actually have control over who we elect to be our politicians, over how elections work, and over how our government is structured,” he continued.

And, yes, that means “democratic socialism” would govern the private lives of citizens — including our relationships.

“Democratic socialism even extends to our relationships and how we treat each other. (It looks) at the world through a socialist-feminist lens, in how we treat people who are black, who are brown, who are femme, who are non-binary, who are gender-nonconforming, and who are working class,” Okere said.

In other words, the government would determine “how we treat each other,” and that treatment would be different depending on one’s gender, race, and class.

Socialists don’t care about the classic principles of freedom and equality under the law. Instead, a socialist government would determine how people should be treated based on their identity.

Should Americans speak out against socialism?

But the identity politics of “democratic socialism” is unnecessary because freedom doesn’t discriminate. Everyone benefits from freedom, and that’s been proven by the current administration’s conservative economic policies.

Okere went on to explain that the progressive left wants to “radically transform the way the world works.”

“But there’s another side of the Left that wants to radically transform the way the world works — not simply say that we can make some changes here and there and that things will be alright.”

The framers of the Constitution intentionally made it difficult for radicals to completely transform the United States government, but that won’t stop socialists from trying.

And all this talk about socialism isn’t fear-mongering — it’s a reality. Even Okere said that his campaign “is literally making socialists.”

“And I’m extremely proud that this campaign is quite literally bringing people into DSA who were not interested in being a part of the organization before,” Okere said. “This campaign is literally making socialists, and I’m proud of that.”

Okere isn’t the only one — Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders also has the backing of an alarming number of Americans.

Sanders already has double digit support in his presidential run, and it’s likely to go up as he starts campaigning.

Socialism is a real threat in America, and they want to make the government as big and intrusive as possible.
