Star of Hit Series 'Justified' Scorches CNN for Whining as Trump Banned Reporter

Share

The liberal media returned to one of their most precious topics on Wednesday — President Donald Trump’s alleged war against the First Amendment and a free press — after a CNN reporter was barred from attending an event in the Rose Garden of the White House. CNN predictably pitched a fit, but a top conservative star from Hollywood quickly put them in their place.

CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins was essentially told to get lost after she shouted a number of “inappropriate” questions during an Oval Office event earlier in the day, which prompted an outraged statement from the network and a hilarious rebuttal on Twitter from former “Justified” TV series co-star Nick Searcy, a frequent critic of liberals on social media.

The president was hosting European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker to discuss a high-level trade deal that would reduce tariffs and encourage more open and free trade between the United States and the European Union, but Collins apparently had other issues on her mind at the conclusion of the Oval Office photo-op event.

Rather than ask questions about the trade deal that was about to be announced, Collins instead shouted questions about a taped conversation between Trump and former attorney Michael Cohen that had been leaked, as well as if Trump was worried about being betrayed and prosecuted, as well as a random question about Russian President Vladimir Putin being invited to the U.S.

Mustering all of the self-righteousness they could manage, CNN released a statement which declared, “Just because the White House is uncomfortable with a question regarding the news of the day doesn’t mean the question isn’t relevant and shouldn’t be asked. This decision to bar a member of the press is retaliatory in nature and not indicative of an open and free press. We demand better.”

While the statement from CNN drew broad support from Trump-hating liberals, other liberal media outlets and even Fox News, it was mocked and dismissed by a number of American citizens who’ve grown tired of CNN’s anti-Trump antics in and around the White House, as well as their excessively negative coverage of everything the president says or does. Searcy most definitely falls into the latter category, as evidenced by his voluminous Twitter feed.

Searcy linked to CNN’s statement and tweeted, “We demand better too. That’s why your ratings are so bad.”

Do you think the White House has the right to invite or bar any reporters they want from attending events?

Indeed, CNN’s ratings have been in a perpetual downslide for some time, and they lag far behind both Fox News and MSNBC in terms of the cable news network ratings battle, according to Breitbart.

Though they would certainly argue to the contrary, there is little doubt that the network’s stridently negative coverage of Trump at all times has turned off a number of viewers, who in response have “turned off” CNN or switched to another channel.

As for CNN’s outraged reaction to Collins being disinvited from a White House event later in the day following her shouted questions at an inappropriate time, the White House Communications Office made it abundantly clear that it was only Collins herself who was barred from the subsequent event — not the entirety of CNN itself — as CNN’s cameras and producers and other correspondents were still invited to attend the news conference … the actual setting in which Collins could have asked her questions instead of an earlier photo-op.

Furthermore, they also made it clear that Collins had refused to leave the Oval Office when asked to do so and instead continued to shout her several off-topic questions.

On top of that, Collins more or less violated the unwritten rule of professionalism that is understood by most other White House reporters, which is that events in the Oval Office are expected to be conducted with a measure of decorum — perhaps with one or two polite and on-topic questions after pictures are taken, but certainly not a series of shouted queries having nothing to do with the event at hand.

CNN and their liberal media allies can crank up the sanctimony all they want, but a lot of Americans simply aren’t buying it any longer, nor are they even watching, so CNN’s tantrum will go largely unnoticed and be utterly forgotten about within days.

Of course, they will simply fire up the publicity-generating outrage machine about something else entirely different at that point, and conservatives like Searcy will continue to clown them for their ridiculous behavior.
