This is how the “JV team” operates. Footage from Syria shows an anti-Assad group blowing up a Syrian amphibious vehicle during the action in that country’s civil war.
The video was posted to military.com on Monday. It showed a rocket launcher with the Jaysh al-Islam group firing upon an amphibious vehicle.
The results weren’t pretty; they never even saw it coming.
While Jaysh al-Islam — sometimes known as Jaish al-Izzah — may not draw the headlines like their Islamic State group counterparts do, that doesn’t make them any better. The Sunni group isn’t quite as interested in democracy or peace so much as it is cleansing the world of Shiite scum.
The New York Times reported that the group is known to use human shields to accomplish their goals, something not usually used by those championing freedom and human rights. In addition, the group has the charming habit of parading its prisoners — both male and female — through the streets in what it calls “Cages of Protection.”
A media activist close to Jaysh al-Islam, Baraa Abdulrahman, said the mostly Alawite prisoners were paraded through the streets “so they can taste our misery.”
And it’s not like that was the actions of a few overzealous jihadists. In a 2013 Ramadan video posted to YouTube, Jaysh al-Islam’s ex leader, Zahran Alloush, lashed out at Shiites. In the video, he said “the Mujahideen of Shaam will cleanse Shaam of the Filth of Rafidis and Rafidism, they will cleanse it for ever in Shah Allah, till they will cleanse the land of Shaam of the filth of the Majoos (Fireworshippers) who fought the Religion of Allah the Almighty.”
Loosely translated, that means he’s not terribly happy with the Shiites.
And while Jaysh al-Islam is against the Islamic State group, that’s mostly just because their respective versions of religious nuttery are just slightly different. According to the BBC, Jaysh al-Islam also has the nasty habit of executing Islamic State prisoners on camera, this time with shotguns.
Oh well. Just another “JV team” Barack Obama thinks isn’t all that big of a deal.
