Teen Climate Icon Sets Tough Standard for Al Gore, Plans To Cross Atlantic in Sailboat

Share

Elites that fly across the world to shill for bad climate change science are often subject to criticism over their ultra-polluting jet travel. While some make excuses, a teenage European climate change icon is shaming them with a journey across the Atlantic.

Greta Thunberg, a 16-year-old student from Sweden, originally came to prominence in 2018 after she refused to attend classes in order to bring attention to politicians supposedly doing nothing about environmental issues, as The Guardian has reported. Her fame skyrocketed from there.

She became a household name as she protested around Europe, targeting the coal industry and meeting with major figures like the pope.

Now she plans to bring her style of climate activism to America. But instead of crossing the Atlantic like the elites do, first-class in a comfy jet airliner or in an extravagant private plane, Thunberg is currently navigating the ocean in a sailboat.

And her craft is no luxury yacht.

According to The Associated Press, Thunberg secured access to a racing yacht for her trans-Atlantic journey. The slender vessel bears no resemblance to the popular image of an extravagant ship.

Built for speed and purged of any unnecessary weight, the yacht doesn’t even have a toilet.

Although there’s no restroom or even a fixed shower, Thunberg’s boat does have a few mattresses and other essential supplies.

“It’s not very luxurious, it’s not very fancy but I don’t need that. I need only a bed and just the basic things,” Thunberg said. “So I think it will be fun, and I also think it will be fun to be isolated and not be so limited.”

Do you think Thunberg's activism will change the way elites approach climate change science?

The boat has been outfitted with solar panels and other upgrades to power the carbon-free voyage.

Two yachtsmen will be on the boat as well, navigating and steering the yacht across the ocean. The voyage will likely take all of two weeks to complete, all aboard the tiny boat.

To elite activists like Al Gore, whose life consists of jet-setting across the world promoting his movies and alarmist views on science, Thunberg’s trip is a direct challenge to his way of business.

Why would “woke” environmentalists want to listen to Gore as he flies across the skies in a carbon-spewing jumbo jet when there’s a Swedish 16-year-old unafraid to sail the ocean to promote the same views?

If Gore wants to keep his iron grip on the climate change racket, he’s going to need a better gimmick than the one this teen girl has.
