Texas City Votes To Become State's First 'Sanctuary City of the Unborn'
From Alabama to Georgia, from Louisiana to Missouri, there are pro-life measures being taken by conservative-leaning states to protect the lives on unborn babies. Leftists are boycotting states — threatening to leave or threatening not to come. They are calling names, protesting and claiming that those who dare save the unborn are racists, sexists and liars.
And if you think that all of that matters to the little town of Waskom, Texas, think again.
The five-member city council just voted unanimously Tuesday to designate Waskom as “a sanctuary city of the unborn” — the first of its kind in Texas, KTEK reported.
In front of a packed house of pro-life supporters, they passed an ordinance to prevent abortion providers from locating in their city.
The council members all raised their hands in favor despite advice from the city’s mayor and city attorney that such an ordinance is a liability and unconstitutional.
“Most likely we will end up getting sued if this passes,” Mayor Jesse Moore said, as reported by ArkLaTexHomepage.com. “It could go to the Supreme Court.”
But that is what the council wants. ArkLaTexHomepage.com reported that the council passed the ordinance with the intention of presenting a challenge to Roe v. Wade.
Although the expense of defending such a suit would be very high for a city of just more than 2,000 souls, Waskom residents believe God will take care of them.
I can’t predict if the ordinance will actually go to the Supreme Court or if an opponent will even attempt to challenge the ordinance in tiny little Waskom — just a short drive across the state line from Shreveport, Louisiana.
But I applaud the moxie of the council and the town for taking a stand.
The travesty of America’s abortion practice is one of the greatest blights on our history and culture. As the left continues to lean further and further away from the traditional values that made our country strong, the opposing voices have often been silent or ineffectual.
But the tide is changing. From Waskom to the White House, the chorus of life is being heard. States are rallying to raise their flag for the unborn. And those who were once silent have begun to speak.
And the left is scrambling. YouTube, Pinterest and Twitter are censoring pro-life messages in an effort to quell the movement.
Netflix, Hollywood elites, and other leftists are raging against the good people in the heartland.
And while Planned Parenthood has a long history of deception of the citizens and defrauding of the government, their star may be fading.
But the fight is far from over.
Don’t remain quiet.
Even if you are merely five council members tucked away in a Texas town, raise your hand.
Raise your hand for life.
