Texas PD Responds to Active Shooter Scene, Winds Up Uncovering Illegal Alien Operation

Share

Police thought they were responding to an active shooter inside a Texas mall. What they found instead were seven illegal immigrants who were allegedly trying to rob a jewelry store.

According to Fox News, officers were called to the La Plaza Mall in McAllen, Texas, on Saturday after reports of shots fired.

“Active shooter at the McAllen Plaza Mall. Stay away from the area! Several law enforcement agencies heading to the scene,” a Facebook post Saturday read.

The post was later updated to note that it was a robbery and that there were no injuries.

A tweet from the city on behalf of McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez later stated that “(r)eports of shots fired are attributed to smashing glass cases.”

The seven illegal immigrants were charged with aggravated robbery, according to KRGV-TV in Dallas: Zepeda Abner Posos, 24; Alberto Rafael Barrera, 32; Brayan Oliver Melchor, 23; Javier Leobardo Olvera-Ramirez, 22; Jorge Angel Rodriguez Mejia, 28; Miguel Quintanilla-Cardenas, 26; and Raul Alberto Rangel-Rivera, 43.

Each of is being held on $200,000 bond.

Do you think we need better border security?

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says it doesn’t know how long the men have been in the country or when (and how) they got here. However, that’ll likely be sussed out as part of the investigation.

“Once the suspects complete their sentences, they will be turned over to CBP so they can process their immigration and criminal histories accordingly,” Fox News reported.

But I thought illegal immigrants were supposed to be “dreamers?” So what if their dream was allegedly knocking over a jewelry store. Don’t new millennium Clyde Barrows have the right to dream, too?

What a pity for them that they didn’t choose Chicago. That’s the city that has sued the federal government over the right to not lose funding over their sanctuary policies, including a refusal to share a prisoner’s immigration status with the feds or to let federal authorities have access to law enforcement facilities.

Or, perhaps they could have chosen New York, where Gov. Andrew Cuomo has pardoned illegal immigrants facing deportation by the federal government.

Crime by illegal immigrants just doesn’t bother some jurisdictions.

Yes, it seems like if they were going to commit a robbery, they probably should have done a bit of venue shopping. Alas, no such luck in Texas.
