The Left Says Trump Colluded with Russians in 2016 Election, Mueller Indictments Say Otherwise

Share

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s Friday indictment of 13 Russian nationals and three Russian organizations for allegedly interfering in the 2016 presidential election to sow discord in America contains a stunning truth bomb that likely left the hacks at CNN and other leftist media outlets paralyzed in shock.

Released Friday afternoon by the Department of Justice, the full 37-page indictment features a passage that unequivocally wrecks the leftist media’s longtime narrative that President Donald Trump and/or his 2016 presidential campaign colluded with Russian operatives to affect the outcome of the election.

“Some Defendants, posing as U.S. persons and without revealing their Russian association, communicated with unwitting individuals associated with the Trump Campaign and with other political activists to seek to coordinate political activities,” the indictment reads.

The key word there is “unwitting,” which Oxford English Living Dictionaries defines as an adjective referring to a person “not aware of the full facts” or an action “not done on purpose; unintentional.”

Thus, even if Trump’s campaign officials interacted with Russian operatives, as the indictment appears to suggest, they did so without realizing that the men and women whom they spoke with were trying to harm the country.

But that’s not all. The indictment also reveals that the Russians’ efforts to sow discord included more than merely sharing propaganda on “social media platforms and other Internet-based media” in favor of Trump and against then-Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

“Specialists were instructed to post content that focused on ‘politics in the USA’ and to ‘use any opportunity to criticize Hillary and the rest (except Sanders and Trump—we support them),'” the indictment reads.

Recall that Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders dropped out of the election after Clinton accepted the Democrat nomination that July. This means that the Russians tried to interfere in Sanders’ favor during the Democrat primary.

Moreover, the indictment states that a couple days before the final election, the Russians “purchased an advertisement to promote a post on the ORGANIZATION-controlled Instagram account ‘Blacktivist’ that read in part: ‘Choose peace and vote for Jill Stein. Trust me, it’s not a wasted vote.'”

Do you think this is enough to FINALLY shut the media up?

Apparently, they tried to interfere in Stein’s favor as well.

And then there’s this bombshell: The Russians’ efforts to interfere in the election began “in or around 2014,” according to the indictment. Remember, Trump didn’t even declare his candidacy until 2015.

Put the pieces of the puzzle together and it becomes exceedingly clear the Russians’ efforts weren’t focused on Trump at all.

More importantly, neither Trump nor his campaign ever colluded with them, as noted by conservative commentator Ben Shapiro.

“Collusion only counts if you know you’re soliciting help from foreign sources. Those involved with the Trump campaign apparently didn’t. That blows a rather large hole in the theory that the Russians were working hand-in-glove with Trump campaign officials,” he wrote Friday for The Daily Wire.

What does all this mean? It’s quite simple really. It means that the leftist media that have been screaming “Trump colluded” nonstop for the past 1.5 years have more egg on their face than a chicken coup. Sad.
