Tomi Lahren Scorches Ex-FLOTUS: 'Sit Down, Michelle'

Share

Say what you will about Fox News pundit Tomi Lahren, but she’s never been one to mince words about polarizing topics.

The conservative spitfire was at it again on Monday, this time setting her crosshairs on former first lady Michelle Obama.

Lahren hit her boiling point over comments Michelle Obama made Sunday at a rally in Las Vegas.

Obama, speaking at a “When We All Vote” rally, took some not-so-subtle shots at President Donald Trump and the current presidential administration.

“Here’s what we have to do,” she said. “If we want qualified people that we trust, then people have to vote. Because you can’t vote some of the time and then sit out.”

The “qualified people that we can trust,” seems like a pretty clear allusion to the Obama crowd not considering Trump either “qualifed” or someone Americans can “trust.”

“You know, we saw that happen. We experienced that. But we had a great president,” Obama said, referring to her husband, Barack.

Had” seems like another clear dig against Trump.

Do you think Michelle Obama had this coming?

But the use of the past tense was the jumping off point of Lahren’s attack on the legacy of the Obamas. And her Twitter post was eloquent vitriol:

“Michelle Obama said we ‘had’ a great president. By what measure? Not in economic growth. Not in border enforcement. Not in strength on the world stage,” Lahren wrote in the blistering tweet. “Sit down, Michelle.”

By almost any metric, Lahren’s spot-on with her Obama critique.

Obama’s biggest supporters like to cite the bad economy the former president inherited from the previous Bush administration. That still doesn’t change the pitiful growth that came with what Forbes and other news outlets acknowledge was the weakest economic recovery from a recession in the country’s history.

Yes, Obama was been derisively nicknamed the “Deporter in Chief” by illegal immigration activists for the number of illegals deported during his tenure, but his stance on immigration policies included the constitutionally indefensible “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals” program. (Even Democrats seem to know the program is on shaky ground.)

And yes, other countries may not like America as much under the Trump regime than the Obama regime. But I will take healthy respect over empty fawning any day of the week.

At the end of the day, both sides of the political spectrum can agree that the Obama and Trump administrations could not be more different. After eight years of the Obamas, American voters spoke up and wanted a different direction for the country. Hence the surprising win for Trump in 2016.

Just as importantly, however, is the incessant sniping from the previous administration regarding the current one. The Bushes were never so critical of former president Obama, despite the numerous, painful blunders he committed along the way — both domestically and in international affairs.

That’s what made Lahren’s final piece of advice so fitting:

“Sit down, Michelle.”

Let’s hope the former first lady takes it.
