Trump Refuses To Hold Back, Sends Chilling Threat to FBI, DOJ

Share

It was classic President Donald Trump. During a rally in Evansville, Indiana in support of Republican Mike Braun, no one was safe from being hit for perceived failings.

The president hit at the media, noting that when he does, the red lights turn off on cameras and the networks claim “technical difficulties” until he is done. But they weren’t the only ones he took aim at. Trump also called out the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice.

The president told the cheering crowd that enough was enough. CNS News wrote that he was “clear he was speaking about people at the top of the two entities – ‘because inside they have incredible people.’”

Trump lashed out, “Our Justice Department and our FBI have to start doing their job and doing it right and doing it now. ‘Cause people are angry. People are angry.”

He continued, making it clear he was not messing around, “What’s happening is a disgrace. And at some point … I wanted to stay out … but at some point, if it doesn’t straighten out properly, I will get involved and I will get in there, if I have to.”

Although the crowd went wild with support at his words, not everyone appreciated them. On Fox & Friends, Fox News correspondent-at-large Geraldo Rivera took issue with Trump’s statement:

Rivera said that it was “beneath the dignity of the office” for Trump to be “threatening his own FBI, his own Department of Justice.” Rivera said Trump was “in essence say(ing) to the FBI, ‘You better make this thing happen fast, you better make it come out the way I want it to come out, or I’m gonna get involved.”

Was Trump threatening the FBI and DOJ to end the investigation in his favor or else?

He suggested instead that he, himself or anyone else do such a thing for the president, calling it “bush league” and “in the sewer.” Rivera was also quick to point out that he loves Trump, he just doesn’t want to see him ruin all the positive he has going for him at the moment.

It all began approximately two years ago as a probe into “Russian Collusion” by Trump as a candidate. It has now turned into what the president often calls a “witchhunt.”

But he is not alone. Other public figures, and the public-at-large, also often use the term. In fact, it even has its own hashtag on social media.

Rumors continue to swirl regarding the investigation, with some claiming it will end soon. But a new rumor is swirling that special counsel Robert Mueller might have a plan to continue the probe if he is fired.

Back in January, Wired wrote about possible options if Mueller was fired. It noted that the order from Trump to fire Mueller could be refused, with resignations and the DOJ line of succession coming into play and complicating matters.

No matter what happens or how the probe eventually ends, it seems one side or the other of the political spectrum may claim foul play and never accept it.

However, with the probe finished, the country would be able to move on to other issues — something many view as far more important.
