Trump Officially Announces Plans for Re-Election in a Way Only Donald Knows How

Share

President Donald Trump’s critics have just been proven wrong once again. First, they laughed off his announcement that he would seek the Republican nomination in 2016.

Then, even as he gained momentum in the primaries, anti-Trump voices assured America that he could never win the White House.

Left-leaning media outlets including the Huffington Post and CNN went so far as to give Hillary Clinton almost a 100 percent chance of winning, with Newsweek magazine even printing “Madam President” covers featuring the soon-to-be losing Democrat candidate. Awkward.

Even after Trump took office, many of the same people who scoffed at his candidacy continued making sweeping predictions of failure. He might not even finish his first term, some insisted. As recently as April, MSNBC host Joe Scarborogh wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post suggesting Trump might not run for re-election in 2020.

Now, confirmation that Trump does indeed intend to turn four years into eight has come from an unlikely source: The liberal British journalist Piers Morgan.

The controversial and opinionated television host — we mean Morgan, not Trump — was recently invited aboard Air Force One for an exclusive interview, and the way that the president treated him was a combination of class and larger-than-life Trump style.

“I was in the Situation Room of Air Force One, the airplane used to fly the most powerful human being on earth around the world,” Morgan began in an extensive piece in the U.K. Daily Mail about his presidential meeting.

“When the President flies on this plane, it automatically becomes the epicentre of global power,” the journalist continued, clearly impressed with the power that comes with the Oval Office, and with its flying Boeing equivalent.

Do you believe Donald Trump will run for re-election in 2020?

“The whole airfield was in a massive security lockdown. It’s impossible to truly comprehend the magnitude of the machinery that surrounds the US President when he travels until you’re in the middle of it,” he continued.

It was a particularly Trump-like setting: He’s a man who is drawn to wealth and power, and there’s no greater status symbol than Air Force One. Morgan made no apologies about being impressed by the grandeur of the meeting, but that didn’t stop him from asking the president some important questions.

One of them got right to the point. “Is there any doubt you’ll run again in 2020?” the British journalist and long-time friend of Trump wondered.

No doubt crushing liberal hopes everywhere, Trump answered in the affirmative.

“Well I fully intend to. It seems like everybody wants me to,” the president declared. He’s confident about pulling off another victory, too.

“Do you see a Democrat who can possibly beat you?” Morgan asked.

“No. I don’t see anybody. I know them all and I don’t see anybody,” Trump answered. “They do not have the right candidate.”

That answer may not surprise conservatives who have been aboard the “Trump Train” since the beginning, but it’s evidence that once again, the president’s critics were wrong.

Trump doesn’t look like he’s slowing down any time soon.
