Last November, the Keystone State was one of the keystones of Donald Trump’s presidential victory. Now he’s returning to thank its residents.
In a Saturday tweet, the president announced that he would be hosting a campaign-style rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, the 100th day of his administration.
Trump’s website noted that the event would be in the Pennsylvania capital of Harrisburg at 7:30 p.m at the PA Farm Show Complex & Expo Center in the New Holland Arena.

The event will come at a critical juncture for the Trump administration, with tax reform and North Korea both looming large for the president. However, mega-rallies are what Trump does best, and it could get momentum behind the president in a major way.

According to The Daily Caller, the rally would also be at the same time and date as the White House Correspondents Dinner, which Trump has already said he would not attend.

“I think it’s … kind of naive of us to think that we can all walk into a room for a couple of hours and pretend that some of that tension isn’t there,” Trump spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in February. She added that there was “no reason for him to go in and sit and pretend like this is going to be just another Saturday night.”
“You know, one of the things we say in the South (is), ‘If a Girl Scout egged your house, would you buy cookies from her?’ I think that this is a pretty similar scenario.”
However, a Trump official told Politico that this wasn’t about the dinner, but rather the president’s 100th day in office.
“The media is trying to make this about them when, respectfully, it has nothing to do with you guys,” the official said. “It’s about focusing on the people.”
To be fair, if Trump wanted to ruin the White House Correspondents Dinner, he’s already done a good job. Several related events hosted by mainstream media outlets — including The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Bloomberg, People Magazine and Time — have been canceled. The New York Times and BuzzFeed won’t even be attending.
