Trump Points Out Media Double Standard on Syria Withdrawal

Share

It’s been well established at this point that the leftist media is rank with hypocrisy and treats President Donald Trump like virtually none of his predecessors.

But just because that’s what we’ve come to expect from the leftist media doesn’t mean we should just accept it and normalize it. It’s not OK.

And one person who will never let the media get away with their disgusting double standards is Trump himself.

Take, for instance, the leftist outcries over Trump’s decisions to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria.

Let’s not forget that liberal outlets like The New York Times went from hating America’s presence in Syria to using the prospect of America’s lack of presence in Syria as a way to attack Trump.

It’s double standards like that that had Trump taking to Twitter to decry the prevalent media narratives being peddled.

“If anybody but your favorite President, Donald J. Trump, announced that, after decimating ISIS in Syria, we were going to bring our troops back home (happy & healthy), that person would be the most popular hero in America,” Trump lamented on Twitter. “With me, hit hard instead by the Fake News Media. Crazy!”

It really is breathtaking the lengths that the media will go to to attack Trump.

Just going back to The Times, the newspaper had no problem exposing its own hypocrisy, if only to lambaste the president.

“Syria is a complex problem. But this plan seems poorly conceived, too dependent on military action and fueled by wishful thinking,” The Times wrote in a January 2018 editorial.

So… America should remove its troops immediately, right? The presence of the American military fixing complicated Syrian issues is “poorly conceived” and “wishful thinking” after all.

Fast forward 11 months, however, and The Times editorial board was  writing Thursday that “Jim Mattis Was Right” and wondering, “Who will protect America now?”

“It could also risk getting American soldiers killed or wounded for objectives their commanders had already abandoned,” The Times wrote about Trump’s decision to leave Syria.

Well, which is it? Is staying in Syria the right move or the wrong move?

The answer, sadly and obviously, is that — according to The Times — whatever Trump decides to do is the wrong move.

Could you imagine the glowing editorials if, say, Barack Obama had decided to pull the troops from Syria? He’s be lauded as a peace-loving humanitarian.

But since Trump made the decision, it’s the worst move ever.

I wish I were surprised by the leftist media’s reaction to all of this. I most definitely am not.
