Tucker to Democrats: If the Creepy Porn Lawyer Is Your Savior, You're in Trouble

Share

Do you know who Michael Avenatti is? If not, I’m guessing you don’t have a TV, since he’s on CNN about as often as advertisements for My Pillow appear on Fox News.

Avenatti is the lawyer and de facto spokesman for former porn actress Stormy Daniels, whose claim to fame needs no elaboration in these pages. If Avenatti has other clients, he’s either cloned himself or is taking so many prescription amphetamines that he not only doesn’t sleep but can break the time-space continuum and be in more than one place at one time. If Daniels is his only client, that raises important issues about who’s paying for him — although that’s another issue for another day.

Avenatti has become a hero to the media, because of course he has: In spite of the fact that he seems like little more than a cultural ambulance chaser, he’s been afforded membership in #TheResistance because Daniels is using him in the war against President Donald Trump.

As of late, Avenatti turned his attention from Daniels’ original crusade — namely, getting her out of the non-disclosure agreement she signed with Trump lawyer Michael Cohen — and into other matters involving the relationship between the president and Cohen.

CNN is reporting this man’s musings with a straight face, apparently because they believe he can help bring down the president. You know, just like Eric Schneiderman could.

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson is not particularly a fan of Avenatti. In a Thursday night segment, Carlson chided the media for latching onto a “creepy porn lawyer” as a potential savior:

His scathing remarks were part of an examination of why the 2018 midterm elections had closed to within a mere 3 points in a recent poll; the Democrats have been up by double digits and are counting on a “blue wave” to take back at least one house of Congress.

Examining why the Democrats have lost touch yet again with middle America, Carlson turned to a MSNBC panel — “which is as close as to a Democratic Party focus group as you’ll ever find,” he mused — discussing the latest exploits of Avenatti.

During the panel, Eddie Glaude, Jr. — a frequent panelist on the network who also chairs the Center for African-American Studies at Princeton University — called Avenatti “a beast” who “keeps popping Donald Trump and all of his folks in the mouth” and even implied he might be “the savior of the republic.”

Do you think it's time for Michael Avenatti to take a break?

Yes, to MSNBC’s eyes, America’s so desperate it needs the kind of lawyer who promises you fast cash now during the advertisement break on “Maury” to save it. Other panelists weren’t all that far behind in their praise of Avenatti.

Carlson got a laugh out of all the Avenatti hagiography.

“So here’s a political rule of thumb,” he said. “If the creepy porn lawyer is ‘the savior of the republic’ in your view, you’re probably not trying too hard to appeal to Middle America. And Democrats are not.”

“In fact in the last year-and-a-half the Democratic Party has doubled down on every single behavior that got Trump elected in the first place. They routinely vilify tens of millions of Americans based on how they look. They prefer illegal immigrants to U.S. citizens and at this point they don’t even hide that preference. They’re open about it.

“In schools and sports and the military they denounce the idea of a biological differences between men and women,” he continued. “That’s something that every culture from ancient Egypt till about 20 minutes ago understood perfectly well because it’s demonstrable. They don’t recognize it anymore.”

“Whatever else he’s done, Trump has driven the Democratic Party off the deep end,” he added.

I would think that was a bit much, until I laid eyes upon MSNBC crowning the “creepy porn lawyer” as the man behind killing the Iran deal story (apparently the panelists on MSNBC are only consuming Avenatti-related news, since that story was plastered everywhere).

It seems, at least upon desultory reflection, that the left has actually gone off the deep end. This is a party that desperately needs to regain relevance at the ballot box and they’re affixing their hopes, in part, on a porn star’s lawyer.

Good luck with that.
