Unhinged: CNN Analyst Says Trump Tweet on Sessions So Bad He Could Be Impeached

Share

According to some in the the establishment media, President Donald Trump could be the first commander in chief to be impeached for a tweet.

In an interview on CNN Tuesday, the network’s chief legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin called out a Trump Twitter post from Monday night criticizing Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

The post was “contrary to the traditions” of American democracy, Toobin said, as well as an  “affront to the values” of the Department of Justice.

“This tweet alone may be an impeachable offense,” Toobin said.

Trump’s twitter habit has never won him approval from CNN in the past — but this seems a bit extreme.

What exactly does Toobin think an impeachable offense is?

Article II of the Constitution lays it out as “Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

As for the tweet itself, it reads, “Two long running, Obama era, investigations of two very popular Republican Congressmen were brought to a well publicized charge, just ahead of the Mid-Terms, by the Jeff Sessions Justice Department.”

“Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time. Good job Jeff……”

Does the left's impeachment obsession help Republicans?

Exactly which part of the tweet was Toobin referring to? It’s hard to imagine which part of Trump’s rather underwhelming complaint that Toobin saw as grounds for impeachment.

Democrats have been quick to cry “impeachment” since the election results came in on Nov. 9, 2016. Perhaps they should have taken him more seriously when he was actually running as a candidate.

Just a cursory internet search for “impeachment” shows a glimpse into the left’s obsessions with impeaching Trump.

For example, billionaire liberal activist Tom Steyer and his “Need to Impeach” movement have amassed 5.7 million signatures. To what end? Maybe Steyer just had the problem of having too much money and nothing to do with it. Happens to all of us.

For once, however, Nancy Pelosi has it right — the impeachment obsession showcases how far removed the left has become from the issues that are important to the everyday American.

In a July interview with Rolling Stone, even our old friend from San Franciso seemed to realize that Democrats may be their own worst enemies.

The interviewer at Rolling Stone was eager to pick Pelosi’s brain on impeachment, to which she responded, “I think it’s a gift to the Republicans.”

“I wouldn’t not impeach the president for political reasons. But I wouldn’t impeach him for political reasons, either,” she went on. “That’s just not what it’s supposed to be about. I think it’s not unifying for the country.”

Thanks for the gift. We politely decline.
