A university in Chicago has now opened a club whose aim is to offer a safe space for white students to feel guilty about being white. This is as real as it ridiculous.
Loyola University in Chicago has allowed the “affinity group” called Ramblers Analyzing Whiteness to operate on campus. Members who “self-identify as White,” can join the club to discuss their “anger and confusion about institutional racism” and feel safe to admit their “guilt and hope about internalized racism.”
According to The Daily Caller, the campus club will “examine what it means to be White” and “begin the journey of operating in solidarity with others and their privilege.”

The club has a pretty extensive process for joining. Students wishing to join the white guilt club must first apply and then take part in six two-hour workshops on topics including “white privilege,” “safe spaces” and “cycles of oppression.”
This club is only open to students who self-identify as white, the reason being that “(w)hite as a racial/ethnic category is difficult to define,” so in an effort to be politically correct the university club has offered “self-identify as White” as a loophole.
“You may also identify as bi-racial and/or multi-racial, where you may come from a mixed-race, mixed-heritage family where some members identify as White,” the group stated on its web page. However, “If you identify as bi-racial and/or multi-racial, please know that the R.A.W. experience will focus primarily on the exploration of Whiteness.”

Ten years ago, a story like this probably would only have been published as a satirical piece on The Onion. But sadly, this is the state of our nation now. White people need a space to feel safe to discuss how guilty they feel about being white. It seems that the more politically correct we get the more divided we become.
