This Video of Sad Democrats Whining About Trump Canceling Their Trip Is Gold

Nancy Pelosi, as you may have heard, is trying to cancel the State of the Union because of the government shutdown. Her excuse is that the Secret Service, having been affected by the partial shutdown, wouldn’t be able to provide security. When they said they could, she told reporters, “I don’t care what they said.”

You can say this about President Donald Trump: When he denied a military aircraft for a Democratic congressional delegation headed over to Belgium on Thursday, he didn’t exactly offer a defense other than the fact that the party — especially its nominal leader — ought to be back in Washington negotiating an end to the shutdown.

There shouldn’t have been a whole lot of disagreement over this point if the Democrats do actually want to end the shutdown. And yet, it had members of the Democratic caucus whining vociferously over the decision.

“Due to the Shutdown, I am sorry to inform you that your trip to Brussels, Egypt, and Afghanistan has been postponed. We will reschedule this seven-day excursion when the Shutdown is over. In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay, I am sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event is totally appropriate,” the president said in a letter, according to Fox News.

“I also feel that, during this period, it would be better if you were in Washington negotiating with me and joining the Strong Border Security movement to end the Shutdown. Obviously, if you would like to make your journey by flying commercial, that would certainly be your prerogative.”

Perhaps it was the fact that the decision was made just minutes before the delegation was supposed to depart for Belgium. Perhaps it was the fact that there was allegedly no stop in Egypt. Perhaps it’s the fact Democrats seemed not to know whether or not commercial travel would be available. Whatever the case, take a look at the very mature way it was handled by the left side of the aisle:

Yes, you heard that right — “man-baby.” Mazie Hirono thinks we don’t have an adult in the White House, a few days after she implied he was a “hostage-taker.” Clearly adults all.

Pelosi’s chief of staff, Drew Hammill, also issued a rebuke via Twitter.

Do you think Donald Trump will get border wall funding?

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, calling the president’s move “petty” and “small,” said that the move was “unbecoming of the president of the United States. But it is unfortunately a daily occurrence.”

He, by the way, ranks right under an individual trying to cancel the president’s State of the Union address by citing security concerns which the authorities say are non-existent.

One senior White House official also noted to Fox News that the trip would have kept her out of the country until after the next government pay period.

“If she had gone on this trip she would have guaranteed that 800,000 federal workers would not receive their second paycheck because she would not have been here to negotiate any kind of deal,” the official said.

Which is one of the things they’re supposed to care deeply about if I’m not mistaken.

The official said that “as soon as the president found out about the trip today, he took immediate action.” Sources also said that all future congressional delegation travel by military aircraft has been put on hold until the shutdown is resolved.

Republicans weren’t 100 percent on board with the decision, it must be noted, with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy calling it “completely appropriate” and Lindsey Graham blasting the move.

“One sophomoric response does not deserve another. Speaker Pelosi’s threat to cancel the State of the Union is very irresponsible and blatantly political,” he wrote. “President Trump denying Speaker Pelosi military travel to visit our troops in Afghanistan, our allies in Egypt and NATO is also inappropriate.”

Whatever the case, the point remains — Nancy Pelosi’s attempt to cancel the State of the Union based on completely specious reasoning doesn’t get much condemnation on the left while the president’s decision that going overseas while government workers are losing paychecks isn’t a good use of taxpayer money makes him a “man-baby.” If it weren’t for double standards…
