Flashback: 'The View' Hosts Dismiss Rape Allegations Against Bill Clinton

Share

Oh, what a difference in a change of administration makes … if you’re a liberal.

It might be said that the latest liberal pastime is to fire potshots at Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. And the ladies of ABC’s “The View” certainly took every opportunity to do just that on Monday.

Co-host Joy Behar suggested Kavanaugh be subjected to a lie detector test as part of the process to gauge the validity of the sexual assault allegations made against him by Christine Blasey Ford.

“She also took a lie detector test, maybe he should,” Behar said. “Take a lie detector test. At least we will see something from that.”

When fellow co-host Abby Huntsman suggested Kavanaugh had the votes to get through the confirmation, Behar warned that may not be the case after more is learned about the accusations.

“There are rumblings now from (Sens. Jeff) Flake, (Bob) Corker, (Lisa) Murkowski and (Susan) Collins that this should not be rushed through,” Behar said. “What’s the big rush? There are still 174,000 papers that we haven’t seen on Kavanaugh. Plus we have this allegation from a rather credible witness. So what is the rush? This is a lifetime appointment.”

Behar said Republicans want to get Kavanaugh in before the November midterms. “They’re afraid that if we wait until after the midterms and you have a Democratic congress in the majority that they will never put him through,” she said. “And they are like, ‘This is our last chance to stack the court with a conservative judge.'”

While most of the co-hosts had no trouble coming up with reasons why Kavanaugh should not be confirmed to a position on the Supreme Court, they apparently had a hard time remembering their past willingness to forgive members of the Democratic Party, including former President Bill Clinton and film director Roman Polanski, for accusations of rape and sexual assault leveled against them.

Are Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg hypocrites for their willingness to ignore rape accusations against Bill Clinton and Roman Polanski?
Newsbusters reminded us of just how hypocritical Behar and co-host Whoopi Goldberg are as they carry water for the left and rabidly attack conservatives.

In January 2016 Behar declared her loyalty on “The View” to the Clintons regardless of the alleged sexual assaults the former president had been accused of.

When co-host Paula Faris brought up accusations by Juanita Broaddrick and Kathleen Willey that Bill Clinton had either raped them or touched them inappropriately, Behar conceded, “He is a dog. Let’s face it. But I still will vote for Bill Clinton because he votes in my favor.”

Political philosophy was also why Behar said Hillary Clinton was preferable as the next president despite whatever sordid behavior her husband may have been a part of.

“It’s her policies that really matter,” Behar said. “Republicans have voted against the Violence Against Women Act. Now, that to me, is more important than anything that Bill Clinton did or didn’t do because it’s what she’s going to vote for, how she’s going to lead the country that matters more than that.”

And Newsbusters also brought to light a September 2009 episode of “The View” where Goldberg was more than willing to let Polanski off the hook even though he was convicted of unlawful sex with a minor as part of a plea deal where prosecutors agreed to drop charges of child rape.

While discussing accusations of the 1977 incident involving Polanski and a 13-old girl, Goldberg dismissed the 1977 incident by saying, “I know it wasn’t rape-rape.”

She blamed part of the problem on how people in the U.S. and Europe view the world through a different light. “We’re a different kind of society. We see things differently,” Goldberg said. “The world sees 13-year olds and 14-year olds in the rest of Europe … not everybody agrees with the way we see things…”

I just don’t know if it gets anymore hypocritical than this.

I never believed in an individual’s “version” of the truth. There is only one truth, and it doesn’t change based on which political party is in office.

Too bad Democrats don’t see it that way.
