Watch 100-Year-Old WWII Vet's Stunned Reaction to Birthday Surprise from Trump

President Donald Trump has earned both ardent supporters and fervent detractors with his take-no-prisoners, brutally honest and tough demeanor.

Frankly, it’s nice to have a commander in chief who’s not afraid to do what’s necessary for the betterment of the country, even if it makes him unpopular with some.

But for all the tough guy bravado, it’s also wonderful to see Trump’s compassionate side every now and again.

Take, for example, the incredibly warm gesture Trump and his administration made for 100-year-old World War II veteran Isaac “Ike” Fabela.

Fabela’s family said that the veteran wanted to receive 100 cards for his 100th birthday, Fox News reported.

Well, once his heartwarming story went viral, he received quite a few more than 100. According to his daughter, he received more than 50,000 cards.

“A big, heartfelt thank you does not express the gratitude,” Lolie, one of Fabela’s eight daughters, told Fox News. “I wish I could show everyone how thankful and gracious we are — he is so humbled by all of this.”

It’s a genuinely moving gesture, and something Fabela unquestionably deserves.

That being said, something tells me that one card in particular will stand out above the other 49,999-plus cards Fabela received.

Are you glad to have a president who loves our nation's heroes?

A viral video shows Fabela opening “the big one,” which was a card mailed directly from the White House.

The video quickly gained traction, and currently sits at over 1.5 million views, and it’s easy to see why.

Fabela read aloud a card sent from both the president and first lady Melania Trump.

“We hope your heart is filled with joy, knowing you have experienced this country’s greatest blessing: the freedom and affection of family and friends over a long, well-lived life,” Febla read.

The WWII veteran became visibly emotional at that point.

“Oh my god,” an emotional Fabela said upon finishing the letter.

Perhaps the best part of all of this was that there was no reason for Trump to send the letter beside simply wanting to personally reach out and thank Fabela for his service.

Better yet, Trump hasn’t really talked about this himself. It was just a touching gesture sent directly to Fabela, and if it wasn’t for his daughter filming it, we might’ve never known it happened.

Our hats are off to this tremendous veteran, and to President Trump for taking the time to acknowledge those who have given everything for our country.
