Watch: Bystander Blasts Fleeing Suspect with 'NFL' Style Hit
A suspect in Provo, Utah who tried to flee a police officer is going viral after being leveled by a brutal NFL-style hit from a bystander.
According to KSTU-TV, Emiliano Medina was approached in a Sam’s Club parking lot after police responded to a welfare request involving a man asking people for water.
They reported that a probable cause statement indicated “(a)n officer approached Medina, who pointed at the officer’s firearm, then made a gun hand gesture and pointed it at his own head.”
“The officer wrote that Medina then reached for the officer’s gun. The officer attempted to force Medina to the ground and, during the scuffle, Medina punched the officer in the head and managed to escape.”
Then he got hit by a ton of bricks masquerading as a normal bystander.

Ouch. That’s going to hurt.
“One male stopped (Medina), and the other male grabbed (Medina) from behind in a bear hug and slammed him to the ground,” the probable cause report read.
“I then kneeled over (Medina) and placed him in cuffs and waited for other officers to arrive to assist me.”
After the tackle, Senior Officer Austin Williams can be heard saying, “thanks, guys” to the bystanders who helped out.
Williams was duly impressed, referring to it as “like NFL hardest hits type of stuff.”
Medina was showing signs of being delirious after the arrest, so he was taken to the hospital. There, he was determined to be under the influence of methamphetamine.
Now, instead of getting away, Medina faces a felony count of disarming a police officer as well as misdemeanor counts of interfering with arresting officer, failure to stop at the command of law enforcement, assaulting a peace officer in uniform and possession or use of a controlled substance.
No word yet on when his next court appearance is going to be.
Provo police are looking to find out who the bystander was so he can be thanked. We would like to thank him, too — not just for helping stop a criminal, but for doing it in style.
