Watch: Once-in-a-Lifetime Video Catches Chaos as Runaway Horse Charges Into Bar

Share

A horse walks into a bar.

But instead of a funny punchline, the horse delivered panic and terror last week as it kicked through a betting bar in Chantilly, France. The racehorse originally escaped her trainer while being taken to a racecourse.

The trainer admitted the horse has a habit of running away.

Once free, the racehorse charged into a bar. “There was quite a panic. I still can’t quite believe it happened,” Stephane Jasmin, the bar’s owner, said.

The horse kicked its way to one end of the bar, turned around, and bucked its way back to the other end. People are seen taking cover behind counters and tables.

From the video, it appears as though no one was injured during the horse’s rampage. This story could have had a different ending had someone been directly in the horse’s path.

Thanks to their sheer size and momentum, horses are extremely dangerous animals.

In Australia, horses are responsible for more loss of human life than venomous animals. Australia is famous for its venomous and deadly creatures, so this is no small feat for the horse.

A favorite weapon of the horse is the powerful kick delivered by their back legs.

When agitated or sensing danger from behind, horses are not afraid to kick to clear the perceived danger. The prevailing advice is to never walk behind a horse, especially when the animal is on edge.

If you don’t want to end up like that guy, basic respect for horses and their power goes a long way.

Of course even if you do follow the rules there’s always a chance a horse could come crashing into a restaurant or bar you happen to be at. One minute you’re enjoying a beer and the next thing you know, it’s sheer equine terror.
