Watch: Sen. Sasse Destroys Pro-Abortion Argument, Slams Dems for Supporting Planned Parenthood

Share

On Thursday, Sen. Ben Sasse torched Democrats and their extreme pro-abortion rhetoric in a powerful speech on the Senate floor.

He called out a slew of Democratic presidential candidates who have shown support for Planned Parenthood — particularly those who plan on appearing at a weekend forum with Planned Parenthood in South Carolina, according to The Blaze.

“The position of every senator running for the Democratic nomination, and at least one governor, is that a living, breathing baby who survives an abortion procedure can still be left to die after birth,” Sasse said.

“All seven senators currently running for the Democratic presidential nomination voted against the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act earlier this year.”

He added that the official Democratic presidential nominee could “be publicly agnostic about the moral status of post-abortion infanticide.”

“As Democrats’ abortion positions have become more extreme, they have no longer sought to even persuade fellow citizens with whom they disagree,” Sasse said. “Rather, they have become openly hostile to Americans who disagree on this great moral challenge.”

He continued, pointing out that current Democratic presidential candidates seem to be completely in line with what Planned Parenthood wants, which for some candidates is markedly different from their past positions.

“Today, the radical things that the nation’s largest abortion business wants are basically indistinguishable from the position of every Democrat now running for president: Abortion — anytime, anywhere, for any reason, for free.”

Sasse later brought up Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger.

“As Planned Parenthood Margaret Sanger put it herself, think about this quote, ‘The unbalance between the birth rate of the unfit and the fit is the greatest present menace to civilization,’” Sasse quoted.

The senator continued, saying, “Sanger’s racial opinions are a matter of some dispute, but this part is clear. She intentionally targeted efforts at black neighborhoods in Harlem and in the deep South.”

Sasse then suggested that the racially-dubious history of Planned Parenthood is a reason why “black women in America are three and a half times more likely to have an abortion than white women.”

He also explained that the abortion organization is still actively engaging in eugenics today.

“For example, to kill children who have non-life-threatening diseases. In the United States today, two-thirds of all babies in the womb who are found to have Down syndrome are aborted. Two-thirds of all babies found to have Down syndrome in the U.S. are now aborted,” Sasse said.

According to Real Clear Politics, earlier this year, Frank Stephens — who has Down syndrome — testified before Congress about the importance of increasing medical research of Down syndrome, along with the preservation of the lives of those with his condition.

“I am a man with Down Syndrome and my life is worth living,” Stephens told the panel. “I have a great life!”

Thankfully, there are individuals like Sasse who continue the fight for people like Stephens — people who can live long, fulfilling lives thanks to modern-day technology and increased research.

The Nebraska senator’s speech was eloquent, factual and full of conviction.

America absolutely needs more congressional officials who put as much time and effort into issues of such magnitude as Sen. Ben Sasse does.
