Watch: Trump's Face Lights Up After Polish President Floats Epic New Military Base Name

Share

To hear the liberal media talk, virtually all of the world’s leaders despise and disrespect President Donald Trump, most likely because — as per the media — Trump is a “puppet” of Russian President Vladimir Putin who has sold out and endangered American and allied interests in order to appease and benefit Russian interests.

Of course, that ridiculous yet persistent liberal narrative has long been debunked, and it took another deadly blow today as Trump welcomed President Andrzej Duda of Poland — a staunch ally of America and member of NATO who serves as a bulwark between Russia and the rest of Western Europe — to the White House.

Among the several issues that were discussed between the two presidents was that of Poland’s desire for the United States to construct a permanent military base in their country that would replace the constantly fluctuating and rotating deployment of NATO troops to the country that stands as the first line of defense against potential Russian aggression toward Europe, according to Bloomberg.

After initially meeting for a discussion and taking questions in the Oval Office, the pair of presidents held a joint news conference during which the topic of a potential U.S. military base in Poland came up, and the proposed name for the future base floated by Duda brought a smile to Trump’s face and a twinkle to his eye.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I was smiling when talking to Mr. President and I said that I would very much like for us to set up a permanent American base in Poland, which we would call ‘Fort Trump,'” said Duda with a grin.

At the mention of “Fort Trump,” the American president’s eyebrows raised and he couldn’t help but smile a bit — just slightly at first, more broadly seconds later — at what would undoubtedly be a great honor.

“And I firmly believe that this is possible. I am convinced that such a decision lies both in the Polish interest as well as in the interest of the United States,” Duda added.

During the earlier event in the Oval Office, Duda had also casually mentioned “Fort Trump” as the possible name for a potential permanent U.S. military base in Poland, according to a transcript prepared by the Office of the Press Secretary.

Do you think it'd be a great honor if Poland named a U.S. military base in their country as "Fort Trump"?

A reporter asked Trump, “The security of Poland — how important is it to you, security of Poland?”

“Oh, very important. The security of Poland, to me?” Trump replied. “Almost as important as it is to this man. I can’t say ‘as,’ but ‘almost,'” he added, gesturing toward Duda.

Duda said, “For me, it’s the most important, and I hope that we will build Fort Trump in Poland together, Mr. President.”

Trump replied, “That’s right. You know what? It’s very important to me. Extremely important. They’re very special people. It’s a very special country. It’s a very brave country.”

It is unclear what the cost of a permanent military base in Poland would ultimately be, but Bloomberg reported that Poland has promised to contribute $2 billion from their own budget toward construction costs.

Bloomberg also noted that Poland is one of the few NATO countries that already contributes at least 2 percent of their gross domestic product toward NATO by way of defense spending, a key point Trump has focused on in his criticisms of NATO, which in truth is less about eschewing traditional allies and more about encouraging them to stand up and shoulder more of the load of defending Europe themselves, rather than rely solely on American military might to do so.

It, of course, remains to be seen if a permanent U.S. military base is ever built in Poland — which isn’t exactly something a Putin puppet would do, is it? — much less if the base will actually be named “Fort Trump,” but regardless of that, it was quite evident that the Polish president holds the American president in high regard with great respect, totally undermining the liberal media narrative that Trump is hated by our allies because he is cozying up to Russia.
