A woman identified as Jill Smith has posted a video online in which she claimed to have found a dead bird inside a can of Sauerkraut purchased from Walmart.
The U.K. Daily Mail reported that the woman explained how she opened the 14.5 ounce can from Walmart and found “parts of a bird” inside.
“That’s no longer going to be our dinner,” says Smith after dumping out the can.
No kidding.
“I wasn’t sure at first because I don’t use sauerkraut that much,” she said. “I was using a new recipe so I thought maybe there was purple cabbage in there. I wasn’t sure until I saw the feathers. That is definitely not purple cabbage.”

“You never think it’s going to be you! Things found in packaged food! Great value brand food,” she said.
The absolutely delightful video was posted to YouTube on Friday and wracked up almost 50,000 views in less than a week:
It’s not uncommon for small insects or occasionally a rodent to become trapped in cans and jars. Those are easier to understand.
A bird however is another matter entirely. It’s hard to believe that no one noticed a canary flapping around the cannery. Or, you know. Whatever.
Either way, I’m sure this will be Smith’s last time picking up a can of Sauerkraut for dinner. We suggest she stick with plain hot dogs.
