Dad Balances 3 Jobs To Save for Daughter's Dress, She Breaks Down when He Opens Bag

Being a parent requires years of work and dedication. From diaper changes to prom dresses and beyond, being a parent means you’re in it for life.

Some families rely on multiple incomes just to make ends meet. They work multiple jobs, often accepting work from the bottom of the barrel in order to get by.

Such is the life for 36-year-old Ricky Smith and his family. The dedicated father and husband works three jobs at McDonald’s, Circle K and Popeye’s.

Smith works around the clock and often takes extra shifts to provide for his family, which means they don’t have much extra available for unnecessary purchases.

So when his 14-year-old daughter, Nevaeha, asked for a particular dress for her 8th grade formal, Smith wasn’t sure if he could swing it.

“I looked at the price and I was like, ‘Uh, not really sure, but I can see what I can do,'” Smith shared.

Still, the Pittsburgh dad wanted to try and make his daughter’s dreams come true. She’d be graduating from Ringgold Middle School soon.

Though this was just an 8th Grade formal, and not senior prom or a wedding, Smith knew how important the special event was to Nevaeha.

“I’m always working extra hours no matter what,” Smith shared with CBS. Yet the pricey two-piece dress from Style Exchange Boutique was almost $200.

But the hard-working dad pulled it off. He and Nevaeha’s mother, Kelly Anne, decided the best way to give their daughter the gift was to surprise her.

So they headed over to McDonald’s where Smith was working that day. When he brought the bagged dress out front, he told Nevaeha her grandmother had purchased it.

The 14-year-old immediately asked if the dress was a two-piece, obviously concerned that her grandma wasn’t quite up to date with the current fashion trends.

When Smith unzips the bag, Nevaeha’s unsure expression transforms in an instant. Watch her reaction as her dad reveals the dress of her dreams.

The hugs and tears are enough to make anyone fall in love with this sweet father’s heart. The viral video has been viewed and shared many times over.

No doubt her 8th grade formal was an event the young lady won’t soon forget. She may not recall the songs that were played or the food that she ate, but I have a feeling she’ll always remember how her daddy gave everything so she could have it all.
