Dad Surprises Age 2 Daughter on Her Last Day of Chemo with New Dress & 'Daddy-Daughter Dance'

It’s difficult enough when your little one is sick with the flu. How much more trying must it be to watch your child battle cancer?

I can’t even imagine the heartbreak of it. But hospitals are filled with young cancer patients and their parents. They fight day in and day out to make it through.

Chemotherapy is a grueling process for an adult. It does things to your body no one wants to endure. The children who have to go through chemo are some of the strongest.

Little Phoenix Thompson from Georgia is one such child. Phoenix is only 2 years old, still just a baby, and yet she’s had to undergo chemotherapy due to being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, or blood cancer.

On top of her leukemia, this sweet girl has a condition known as MDS. “MDS is a group of conditions that involve the blood,” her GoFundMe page explains.

“When children have MDS, their bone marrow doesn’t work normally. It makes abnormal blood cells and does not make enough blood cells.”

Phoenix has 4 siblings. Her parents, Brett and Christina Thompson work hard to care for their sick daughter on top of caring for their other children.

Through it all, the family is “staying strong in their faith that the Lord will give Phoenix the strength to fight.”

Phoenix recently completed her first round of aggressive chemotherapy. To celebrate the milestone, her daddy surprised her with something very special.

Dressed in a suit and tie, Brett showed up at the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

He had a nurse take a dress in for his little princess so that when he showed up to her room she’d be ready.

“I don’t think I could have picked a better man for my kids,” Christina Thompson wrote on Facebook. “Brett, thank you for being just what our children need.”

What a good daddy! Phoenix still has a long road ahead to beat cancer, but it’s wonderful to see she’s surround by a family who loves her very much.

Our prayers are with their family during this time. If you wish to support them, please visit their GoFundMe or Facebook pages to learn more.
