Dean Martin's Daughter Speaks Out on Absurd 'Baby It's Cold Outside' Ban

Share

The famous Christmas song “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” has been relentlessly attacked by leftists this Christmas season, but Dean Martin’s daughter said she won’t stop performing the classic song.

Multiple radio stations stopped playing the Christmas classic this year because of concerns regarding the song’s lyrics.

In the well-known song, a female sings, “I really can’t stay,” and a male singer responds with “But baby, it’s cold outside.”

Cleveland’s WDOK Christmas 102.1 pulled the song after receiving a complaint from a listener about the song’s lyrics, according to local WJW-TV.

“People might say, ‘oh, enough with that #MeToo,’ but if you really put that aside and listen to the lyrics, it’s not something I would want my daughter to be in that kind of a situation,” WDOK host Desiray said.

The song has been performed since it was written in 1949 and it hasn’t been attacked until recently. Radio stations can try to deny it, but the left’s push for political correctness is behind the outrage.

Any semblance of romantic courtship in old media is slammed by the left.

Will you continue listening to this Christmas classic?

“The tune might be catchy, but let’s maybe not promote that sort of an idea,” Desiray added.

Denver’s KOSI 101.1 also pulled the song before they eventually brought it back.

Despite the left’s attack on the Christmas classic, Deana Martin told Fox News that she will continue to perform the song.

“I personally love performing ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ and will continue to do so,” Martin said.

Martin emphasized the song’s history.

“It’s been recorded by dozens of the world’s top recording artists for over 60 years, including my dad Dean Martin,” Martin said. “This song is included in his very successful 1959 ‘Winter Romance’ album and I’m very proud that it has become an evergreen favorite that is played every holiday season.”

It’s great that Martin will continue to perform the song, but the left’s crusade for strict political correctness isn’t limited to “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” this year.

Liberals also targeted “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” which they deemed “problematic.”

Americans should follow Martin’s lead and stand up to the left’s assault on Christmas.
