Dems Interrupt Kavanaugh Hearings, Turns Out It Was All Staged
Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings have been hotly discussed since his nomination nearly two months ago, but rarely with the melodrama that they took on Tuesday. And it even had a surprise twist for the audience.
Before things even got started in the Senate Judiciary Committee, proceedings were interrupted almost immediately.
California Democrat Sen. Kamala Harris spoke over Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley, saying, “The committee received just last night, less than 15 hours ago, 42,000 pages of documents that we have not had an opportunity to review or read or analyze … we cannot possibly move forward, Mr. Chairman.” .
Protesters and other Democratic senators joined in the shouting, calling for the hearing to be adjourned.
Many protesters at the hearing became so heated that they had to be escorted out. Capitol Police reported 22 arrests, according to The Hill.
Linda Sarsour, an organizer of the Women’s March and notorious activist, was one of the many abortion rights activist led out.
Grassley wryly agreed that the committee had received “more materials on Judge Kavanaugh than we have had on any Supreme Court nominee in history.”
However, he saw no reason why this should delay the hearings, as Republican aides had examined the documents since their Monday-night arrival.
But Democrats weren’t interested in facts. They were interested in staging a drama, and they did it deliberately, knowing mainstream media’s cameras would be on them (and no doubt guessing they would be treated sympatheically.)

But in a twist that showed just how fabricated all the commotion was, NBC News’ reporter Kasie Hunt tweeted Tuesday morning that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer had used the Labor Day weekend to plan a Democrat protest strategy.

Republican Sen. Thom Tillis asked Democrat on the Judiciary Committee for a response to Hunt’s allegation that their protests were staged to delay Kavanaugh’s hearing.
Tillis read the tweet, saying, “Mr. Chairman, I’m confused, because I heard earlier that this was a reaction to the document released last night.”
“But I’m reviewing a tweet from NBC that said ‘Democrats plotted coordinated protest strategy over the holiday weekend and all agreed to disrupt and protest the hearing, sources tell me … Dem leader Chuck Schumer led a phone call and committee members are executing now.'”
“I just want to be clear, none of the members on this committee participated in that phone call or that strategy before the documents were released yesterday? Are you suggesting that this allegation is false?” Tillis asked.

Sen. Dick Durbin, the Illinois Democrat, did not deny the obvious.
He sidestepped it by saying, “Mr. Chairman, there was a phone conference yesterday and I can tell you at the time of the phone conference many issues were raised.”
“One of the issues was the fact that over 100,000 documents related to Judge Kavanaugh have been characterized by the chairman of the committee as confidential.”
So, Durbin played his part, just like the other Democrats and the noisy protesters played theirs, acting right on cue to disrupt what should be dignified proceedings to confirm or reject a man who will be on the Supreme Court of the United States for decades to come.
They tried to make it a drama. They’re making themselves a farce.
