Doctor Shares Video of Crying Newborn Twins Consoling Each Other After Birth

Share

Do you know someone who’s a twin? Maybe you’re actually a twin yourself.

The odds are much higher than they used to be, after all. According to the Modern Mom website, twin births are actually on the rise.

Modern Mom notes that back in 1980, roughly one in every 53 U.S. babies was a twin. But by 2009, the official twin birth rate had actually climbed a whopping 76 percent.

Potentially, this could have something to do with expanding fertility treatment options. Sometimes, these treatments can yield a higher number of fertilized eggs.

It may also be a result of older women discovering the joys of motherhood. The Twins UK website explains that approximately 62 percent of twins are welcomed by moms over 30 years of age.

Whatever the reason, there are a number of fascinating facts related to twins. Twins UK, for example, indicates that these dynamic duos can often develop a private “language” only they can comprehend.

This specialized “twin talk” is often called idioglossia or cryptophasia. The latter term is likely a nod to the cryptic nature of the lingo.

But there’s nothing cryptic or secret about the fact that twins share a singular bond. Brazilian-based fertility specialist Dr. Rodrigo da Rosa Filho certainly knows something about this.

Recently, he even shared a brief Instagram video that’s gone rapidly viral across social media.

According to the doctor’s website, he helped found an assisted reproduction clinic called Mater Prime. This facility staffs multiple locations across the larger Sao Paulo area.

Dr. da Rosa Filho’s biography indicates that he’s written several books about obstetrics. He’s also affiliated with the Brazilian Society of Human Reproduction.

So Dr. da Rosa Filho has likely seen more than his share of twins and multiples. But the video he chose to post is especially endearing.

The short snippet shows two newborn twins. Like many brand new bundles of joy, they’re initially squirming and crying with unrestrained gusto.

But viewers are especially taken by their tiny arms. Because these twins appear to be calming and comforting one another with a sustained sibling hug.

It’s clear that many twins share an amazingly close connection for life. But Dr. da Rosa Filho’s captivating visual illustrates that the attachment is intact from the moment twins enter this world.

The Instagram caption is written in the doctor’s own native language. “No choro e na alegria, sempre juntos!” it exclaims.

The English translation? “In tears and joy, always together!”
