Elderly Man Pushes Dog on Cart Every Day so They Can Go for Walks

Share

Americans are gushing over a sweet video of an elderly man in Italy giving his cancer-riddled dog the best of care.

The touching scene perfectly depicts what it looks like to love a dog unconditionally, even when his youthful puppy days of health and energy are long gone.

In Vibo Valentina, Italy, resident Tonino Vitale walks his dog three or four times a day.

Vitale’s dog, Dylan, is 13 years old and has bone cancer, according to Sabrina la Grotteria, who captured the video on her phone and posted it on Facebook.

As Dylan’s health has declined, he can no longer use his back legs. But Vitale makes it a priority to take his dog outside for some fresh air and sunshine, both are good for the soul.

La Grotteria’s video shows Vitale’s innovative solution to help his ailing dog walk outside. He uses a hand truck, which offers Dylan plenty of room to lay down as Vitale pushes with ease.

In the video, the duo had just returned home from a walk. Vitale parked the hand truck close to the sidewalk and lifted Dylan off the cart using an extra harness around Dylan’s body.

Dylan managed to take a few slow, assisted steps, as he made his way back home.

La Grotteria found the scene to be beautiful and praised Vitale for his selfless compassion.

“This video contains only one word,” Sabrina la Grotteria wrote in Italian. “Humanity.”

She explained how she had witnessed Vitale walk his dog multiple times each day, day after day, simply because he loves his dog and it’s the right thing to do.

“This man should be rewarded,” she said.

Dog lovers understand Vitale’s undying affection for his pooch.

We have a feeling that if the situation were reversed, Dylan would find a way to load Vitale onto that hand truck and take his owner for a walk every now and then, because dogs are loyal like that.

According to Shareably, when Vitale was asked about the heartwarming video, he expressed happiness that so many people have watched it.

Vitale hopes the video will teach others to respect animals and take very good care of them.
