Enough Is Enough: Trump Hits Ohio Rally-Goers With Incredible Message About America's Heroes

Share

At a presidential campaign-style rally in support of an Ohio congressional candidate Saturday, President Donald Trump said his administration wasn’t the apologizing sort, insisting that it would be “standing up for the heroes who protect our country.”

Trump made the remarks in Lewis Center, Ohio, where he was campaigning for GOP candidate Troy Balderson, running in a special election Tuesday in Ohio’s 12th Congressional District.

“I withdrew the United States from the horrible Iran deal, and so many things have happened since,” Trump said to applause.

“I also recognized the capital of Israel and five months later, we opened the American embassy in Jerusalem.”

“”Instead of apologizing for America, we are standing up for America,” Trump continued. “We are standing up for the heroes who protect our country.”

After a round of applause, Trump added, “And we are proudly standing for our national anthem, thank you.” That elicited another round of cheers.

According to polls, Balderson is barely ahead of Democrat Danny O’Connor in the heavily Republican district.

The latest Democrat ploy has been to attempt to tie Balderson to Rep. Jim Jordan, a fellow Ohio Republican and candidate for speaker of the House candidate who is now under fire for what he allegedly knew about a sexual harassment case while he was a college wrestling coach at Ohio State University in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Do you agree with President Trump?

In the wake of the allegations, a Democrat-led ad campaign attempts to drag Balderson down with that particular ship since the candidate hasn’t taken a position on Jordan’s candidacy for Republican House leadership.

“Seven former student athletes say Jim Jordan turned a blind eye to sexual abuse at Ohio State,” an anti-Balderson campaign ad intones, according to NBC News. “Does Troy Balderson stand with the victims or with Jim Jordan?”

Wonderful. For his part, Balderson has hit O’Connor on the issues. The Republican nominee says O’Connor will be an establishment liberal and yes-man for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, blunting leadership from the White House.

“Dishonest Danny O’Connor wants to repeal those middle-class tax cuts. Dishonest Danny O’Connor wants to take away your guns. Dishonest Danny supports open borders and sanctuary cities,” Balderson told the audience on Saturday, according to Fox News.

“Dishonest Danny O’Connor will fight against the policies that are turning our country around. And worst of all, Dishonest Danny O’Connor will vote for Nancy Pelosi for speaker.”

Balderson is running in a district that usually votes Republican. While the vote may be close, Trump visiting and taking a stand for America’s heroes — be they in the military, law enforcement or other forms of public service — is sure to go over well in the district. It could even be what puts Balderson over the top.
