Girl Has Lip Bitten Off by Mother To Stop Her Crying, Dies 1 Year After Finding Loving Home

Share

Every parent knows that children won’t make it easy on you. These little bundles of need all come with their unique quirks and weaknesses, their own irascibility and irritableness.

We know that they love us. Yet sometimes we wish they’d show that love by, say, stopping their shouting for five whole minutes or allowing us to use the bathroom in peace.

One of the worst childhood irritations has to be the incessant wailing. Nothing grates the nerves quite like a kid who has started on a crying jag and just won’t stop.

As parents, though, we have to master our own emotions when dealing with such infantile infractions. And one Russian woman’s terrible choice to not do so led to incredible pain for a little girl.

The Mirror reported that young Katya Spesivtseva was living in the Sverdlovsk Oblast area of Russia in 2015. She was only six at the time.

Poor Katya had a rough life before her. See, she’d been born with cerebral palsy.

But even worse than that was her parenting situation. Calling her mother, Ludmila, abusive hardly does the situation justice.

Apparently, Ludmila didn’t like it when her handicapped daughter would cry. Though understandable, having a child howl is just a part of parenting life.

That’s doubly true when a kid happens to have a health problem. But when Katya began to wail one night, Ludmila decided she’d had enough.

She screamed at the young girl, telling her to be quiet while hitting her. Of course, that only made little Katya cry harder.

According to The Sun, Ludmila then resorted to the unthinkable: She attacked her own daughter.

She clenched Katya’s lower lip between her teeth and tore it off. Then she left Katya in agony for days.

When the horrible mother finally sought medical care for her daughter, physicians would discover that she’d also attempted to bite off Katya’s nose. If this was where the story ended, it would be a sad tale indeed.

Fortunately, authorities intervened and jailed Ludmila for four years. Katya ended up being adopted Anna Makarova-Bespalova and taken to Anapa, a resort town situated by the Black Sea.

This year, Katya died unexpectedly at the age of nine. The official cause of death was heart failure.

“We were not ready for Katyusha to decide to leave us,” Anna said. “And although she was not with us for too long, the whole family has a hard time because of the loss.”

While nothing can take away the horrible pain that Katya endured at the hands of her birth mother, Anna made sure that she gave the young girl as much affection as possible. For a time, at least, she knew the warmth of a true mother’s affection.
