Grocery Bagger Gives Elderly Woman $20 from Own Pocket So She Can Pay for Her Groceries

Share

When someone goes above and beyond to help another human out of the kindness of their heart, that’s the sort of story we love to share!

One such kind human is from Massachusetts. Frederick works as a bagger at the Big Y World Class Market in Greenfield.

As he was bagging groceries for an elderly woman who was checking out, Frederick saw she didn’t have the money to pay for her entire order.

Another customer in line noticed, too. Big Y tweeted their story, explaining what a fine young man Frederick is, and how he kindly helped a woman in need.

“While I was checking out I noticed an elderly lady in the next lane who didn’t have enough money to pay for her order,” the anonymous customer told Big Y.

“The young gentleman who was bagging her groceries gave her $20 so she could pay for her order,” they continued.

Big Y added, “WOW — great job Frederick!”

“Helping one another is what it’s all about!” a commenter wrote.

We have to applaud him too. It takes a big man to pull cash from his own pocket and hand it to a stranger.

It turns out Frederick isn’t the only Big Y do-gooder employee. Their Twitter feed is full of other stories featuring kind hearts serving customers every day.

Anna from Torrington was praised for bringing a forgotten item that was left behind to a customer in the parking lot. “A can of soup was forgotten when the cashier was bagging and Anna came out into the parking lot and brought it to me,” a customer commented to Big Y. “Nice job!”

Loreta from Marlborough was recognized for her patience during a transaction with a customer. “Loreta was terrific helping me when I had not yet received my Silver Savings card,” the customer said.

“She was incredibly patient & helpful while getting my card number,” they continued. “She even kept thanking me for my patience! Outstanding customer service!”

Seems Big Y World Class Market is the place to shop if you want outstanding customer service and kind employees who go out of their way to make your day.

Way to go, Big Y! We love seeing your employees shine!

Liftable, a brand of The Western Journal, reached out to Big Y for comment via a message on Twitter, but has not heard back at this time.
