Groomer Opens Store in Middle of Night to Care for Abandoned Dog Covered in Fleas

A hairstyle transformation can be a fun way to get a new look. It can also lead to dramatic changes in the person’s health and happiness for the better.

The power of a good haircut does not only benefit humans. Such was the case for a fortunate dog who was named Lucky after experiencing a life-changing transformation.

Lucky was almost hit by a car on a highway in Florida. Thankfully, he was removed from that dangerous position by kind-hearted strangers.

The 4-year-old dog was in terrible condition. Matted and overgrown fur had taken over Lucky’s entire body.

It was so severe that the condition of his fur prevented him from being able to wag his tail or walk much. Poor Lucky clearly had been neglected.

His owner may not have cared for him, but many strangers came together to make sure his quality of life would greatly improve. The night he was found, Mary Dixon posted on a local Facebook group for lost and found animals in hopes of finding care for the dog until Animal Services opened in the morning.

Dog groomer and owner of BGE Grooming Kari Falla saw Dixon’s plea for help. Falla was willing to welcome Lucky into her shop to groom the dog even though it was midnight by the time Lucky’s transformation began.

Normally, it takes an 1 1/2 hours to groom a dog. It took three hours to groom Lucky.

At least two years had likely passed since Lucky had been groomed. Even though Falla was a stranger to Lucky who wasn’t accustomed to being groomed, he seemed to embrace the process as if he knew it was exactly what he needed.

Falla told InsideEdition.com, “I knew it was bad, but nothing prepared me for what I saw. It smelled like death and the dog could not walk.”

The amazing physical transformation left Lucky looking like a completely different dog. Even better, he left with a transformed spirit, which he demonstrated by his newfound ability to wag his tail.
