Gun-Toting Woman Saves Husband from Brutal Attack

Share

An Indianapolis man was saved from a brutal beating at the hands of armed robbers last week, and all because his wife knew that a good guy (or girl) with a gun is the best defense against bad guys with guns.

According to WXIN-TV, the unnamed man was shot during the attempted robbery on Dec. 5.

“At around 9 p.m., authorities were dispatched to the 3700 block of Graceland on the report of an attempted robbery,” they reported.

“Police say a man was coming back from running errands when two masked men shot and pistol whipped him.”

The two suspects, who were wearing ski masks and gray clothes, jumped the man as he was about to enter his house, forcing him inside.

After shooting the man in the leg, the suspects then knocked the man’s wife down and demanded cash from her.

As she grabbed money, she also grabbed something else — a gun.

After firing a shot, the two suspects took off.

Neighbors interviewed by WTHR-TV were distressed at the incident.

“When I saw the address, they popped in my mind. because they have always been nice to me. Everybody speaks to them and they work and help people out and they were just a target by whoever walks through here,” Randy McCrackin said.

“They are such a nice family. They bring me Sunday dinner, they help me with my yard, anything I need help with, I can count on them. They are just a safe haven for our block and for someone to come and try to take from them and their family is just devastating,” Dana Miller told the station.

The police, as per usual, delivered the usual boilerplate advice about situational awareness, keeping vigilant, yadda yadda yadda, etc.

“What I would encourage in any time of the year (is) just to be aware of your surroundings, make sure that if you’re going to go to the store, lock your doors, make sure you pay attention to anyone that surrounds your vehicle,” Indianapolis Police Captain Karen Arnett told WXIN.

Those are all wonderful pieces of advice, but the takeaway from this attack ought to be fairly straightforward: The Second Amendment works.

Generally speaking, being attacked by masked robbers isn’t a good augury. It’s even worse when they shoot you and knock down your wife.

These were cruel individuals who were clearly out of control; at that point, situational awareness and vigilance were both perfectly good things, but an even better solution would be self-defense.

And, for those who like to say that guns pose a danger to children, let me point out that the couple’s kids were in the house at the time. What would have happened to them if the robbery had proceeded apace? Do you think these suspects would have shown the children more empathy than they showed their parents?

The founders allowed us the ability to defend ourselves with firearms. Thank God that they did. Thank God for that fact every single day. And remember that there are legislators out there who are working diligently to take this right away from us.

In this case, the man escaped with a wound and was in stable condition in the hospital at last report. The suspected robbers, alas, got away. One hopes that they’re brought to justice, but they ought to be thankful they didn’t receive the most final form of justice.
