Hang Onto Your Shiplap: Chip and Joanna Gaines Are Getting a New Show!

Share

Chip and Joanna Gaines fans are happily sighing in relief that their favorite HGTV couple will be sticking around a little longer. After the sad news that the smash hit “Fixer Upper,” would end this April, fans were curled up in the fetal position wondering what to do next.

Not really, but plenty of viewers did feel a sudden longing for that weekly dose of corny jokes, hard renovation work, and fresh, happy homes. In the spring of 2017, Joanna hinted at a new show, and now, fans are soaking up the details.

Luckily, fans will be able to move effortlessly from “Fixer Upper,” which ends April 3, to a new spin-off show called “Fixer Upper: Behind the Design,” which premieres on April 10. Each of the 30-minute shows will correspond with a rerun of “Fixer Upper,” promising to explore the nitty-gritty of Joanna’s design process.

Viewers will get a front row seat to witness how Joanna expertly marries her eye for decor with the tastes of her individual clients. Part of Joanna’s charm is her ability to perfectly capture the personalities of each family she works with, creating an inviting warmth in each room.

“The new 15-episode series will highlight how Joanna creates breathtaking designs — from strategy to staging — in each stunning overhaul,” HGTV said in a news release. “Super fans of ‘Fixer Upper’ can expect to see rooms that were not included in original episodes of the series.”

Joanna, who is expecting her fifth child sometime this summer, is excited to give fans that in-depth look into her design process. Part of her joy, she explains, comes from the satisfaction of leaving each client with their dream home.

“I can’t wait to show our fans how every piece of the design comes together before the final reveal,” Joanna said in a press release. “I want to nail every detail so that, when we walk away, Chip and I know we’ve given a family the one-of-a-kind home of their dreams.”

Always supportive of his wife, Chip is thrilled for the show, as well. Only he sees just how hard his wife works day in and day out, and he’s excited for fans to see the amount of effort Joanna puts into each design.

“Jo puts her heart and soul into every fixer upper we design,” Chip said in the release. “Our hope is that these homes become a beautiful part of each family’s next chapter.”

Between their television lives, raising a family, opening a new restaurant, and managing a business, we don’t know how this couple pulls it all off. But we are so glad they do.
