HGTV Stars Chip & Joanna Gaines Welcome Birth of Baby Number 5
The day we’ve all been waiting for is here! Chip and Joanna Gaines’ fifth addition to the family has finally been born!
Chip announced the couple’s pregnancy back in January in classic Chip fashion. He shared a series of hints on his social media accounts before finally confirming that they were, in fact, expecting the long-talked-about “Number 5.”
Joanna opened up and revealed that this pregnancy felt different than the others, mostly due to the age of her other children.
“I had four kids aged 4 and under. There were so many diapers, and it was chaos,” the HGTV star said. “Those years just flew because there was so much happening in the moment. I feel like I can really take this one in and relish these moments.”
Her friends and family even threw her an adorable baby shower in preparation for the little boy. The theme was “Baby Got Books,” a play on Sir Mix-a-Lot’s hit “Baby Got Back.”
And of course, the party was picture perfect. Joanna shared pictures of the party on her Instagram. She wrote, “Blown away by the creativity and thoughtfulness of my friends- just the cutest book shower ever for baby Gaines! Feelin’ the love…”
Chip announced the arrival of their newest baby boy on Twitter early on June 23, 2018. He wrote, “And then there were 5… The Gaines crew is now 1 stronger!”
Both the baby boy and Joanna are healthy and doing well. “10 beautiful toes and 10 beautiful fingers all accounted for, and big momma is doing great! #blessedBeyondBelief,” his tweet ended.
The baby’s birth comes only one week after the couple’s 15th wedding anniversary.
While the name of the sweet baby boy hasn’t been announced yet, the Fixer Upper couple has said that they will continue with the trend already set in place by their current four children by having his name start with the letter “D.”
Chip announced the baby’s gender on his Twitter by sharing a video of him talking to Gabe, a child whom he met through working with the Tebow Foundation. He was trying to get ideas for an awesome “D” name.
Whatever his name ends up being, Drake, Ella, Duke, and Emmie will be great big brothers and sisters by pitching in around the family’s farm.
Joanna and Chip have luckily had plenty of practice with newborns, but they recognize that it will still be an adjustment, especially with handling diapers.
Before the birth, Joanna said, “We need to figure (diapering) out again. I don’t even remember, but I do remember the blowouts and I’m like ‘Oh my gosh!’ I’ve gotta get my stuff together. It’s coming!”
But she also shared that Chip has always been a great help with the babies. She even calls him “the best swaddler.”
As for plans for future babies, Joanna said that she and Chip aren’t closed to the idea. “I joke with my friends that I’m going to be that 45-year-old who’s pregnant,” she said.
She continued, “Chip is such a kid at heart and we both love a big family. I’m open to whatever. I’m just having fun with it.”
While “Number 6” may be in the HGTV couple’s future, I’m sure they are soaking in all of the cuddles they can with baby D and cherishing each precious moment.
