According to new reports, the person Donald Trump is vetting to run as his vice president was the first presidential candidate to drop out of the Republican presidential race and officially endorse Trump: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
CNN reported Thursday that Christie has received the official vetting paperwork from the presumptive Republican presidential candidate and is going through with the process, according to one unnamed source.
The New York Times first broke the news that the official Christie vetting process was underway, and noted Christie has been hard at work for the last four months helping Trump build his transition team in the event he is elected president. Even Christie’s former top aide, Richard H. Bagger, has been enlisted to help with the transition team.

Christie has been the butt of many jokes since he first stood with Trump during the primaries, and his popularity has plummeted in his home state of New Jersey ever since his official endorsement of the businessman. In one Quinnipiac poll, 72 percent of New Jersey voters and 64 percent of New Jersey Republicans said Trump should pick someone else as his running mate.
@njdotcom The only thing Christie should be vetted for is Court Jester. Trump has Been using him as his personal assistant.

Since February, Trump has maintained he’d like to have someone “political” to serve as his vice president, and he’s even allowed a few names to be kicked around. As late as last week, Trump’s former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, said his original list of 15 names had been whittled down to four “household names,” but he didn’t mention any of those names.
