IronPigs use LeBron's son in free agency bid, offer him job if dad will sign with team

Share

In life, we tell our children how important it is to have options.

When your dad has made an estimated $203 million just for playing basketball — and soon might break the $40 million-a-year mark, the chances are pretty good that you won’t have to worry about money.

But a minor league baseball team is still offering LeBron James Jr. (aka “Bronny”) a job, contingent on his father signing with the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs — the Triple-A affiliate of the Phillies — are pulling out all the stops to help sway LeBron Sr.’s decision.

Last month, the team unveiled its wishes on a billboard.

The IronPigs get bonus points for alluding to Michael Jordan’s season with the Birmingham Bulls.

Other groups have come up with pretty standard stuff.

Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is offering to help recruit “The King.”

But now the IronPigs are taking it to a new level.

If LeBron heads to the city of Brotherly Love, his son will have a new gig.

That’s right, Bronny — an incoming high school freshman — already has job security!

LeBron Sr. already has employment ideas for his son.

Check out his thoughts on once his game begins to slow down.

“I know I won’t be able to play at this level forever,” James told GQ last year. “But to be washed and play … I don’t know if I can play washed … but I damn sure would love to stick around if my oldest son can have an opportunity to play against me. That’d be, that’d be the icing on the cake right there.”

Senior added that being able to team up with Junior would be the greatest accomplishment in his basketball career.

But at least Bronny knows if the NBA doesn’t work out, he has options.
