No one can forget the role of Jack Sparrow from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies. Johnny Depp’s quirky character steals the show, and recently he may have even stolen the hearts of some young fans.
The big-hearted actor showed up at the hospital adorned in the complete Sparrow attire — including captain hat, tangled mane and well-worn pirate clothes.
Depp didn’t miss a beat, as he was completely in-character as Sparrow for the famous visit. Depp has played the role of Sparrow since 2003, and he put on quite the performance for the kids as the curious pirate.
Hugging patients and posing for pictures, Depp showed his sweet side to the children and even the nurses with whom he stopped to chat.
He signed autographs for all on a notepad and shared a few laughs with staff members at the hospital too.
The kind-hearted visit is the stuff that memories are made of and definitely one that these children will never forget.
Depp decided to take time out of his busy schedule and visited these young children during the holiday break.
The Curie Institute was grateful for the surprise visit and tweeted a loving response to Depp:
“Surprise visit by Jack Sparrow. The most famous pirate to children & teens of our # pediatrics service! A gift that gave joy to the patients, families, caregivers, doctors, and researchers. Huge thanks to Johnny Depp for his time, his comfort & his energy.”

The Curie Institute is a hospital as well as one of the world’s foremost research centers for cancer. Some of the best medical experts work there and have made it their mission to treat patients with cancer.
The visit came just a few weeks after a Disney executive announced that Depp will no longer play Sparrow in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie series.
Sean Bailey told The Hollywood Reporter that Disney plans to take the movie franchise in a new direction that does not involve Depp’s character.
“We want to bring in a new energy and vitality,” Bailey told The Hollywood Reporter. “I love the movies, but part of the reason Paul and Rhett are so interesting is that we want to give it a kick in the pants. And that’s what I’ve tasked them with.”
Depp has played the captain for 15 years in five top-grossing movies.
While we will miss Captain Jack Sparrow in the next “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie, he will forever be in our heart and the hearts of the young children he visited at the Curie Institute.
Thank you, Depp, for spreading the love.
