Kamala Didn't Get Memo, Signs On to Green New Deal as AOC's Staff Removes FAQ Page from Official Website

CORRECTION, Feb. 9, 2019: This article was published under the headline “Kamala Didn’t Get Memo, Signs Onto Green New Deal as Humiliated AOC Removes It from Website.” While the article itself was accurate, the headline stated that Rep. Ocasio-Ortez’s staff had removed the Green New Deal from her website, when in fact what had been removed was the FAQ document that attempted to explain the proposal. We therefore corrected the headline early Saturday morning.

We apologize for our error and for any confusion we may have caused.

The Democratic Party’s 2020 presidential hopefuls aren’t exactly off to an inspiring start.

With the race for the White House already underway, two of the leading women from the left — Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris — have embarrassed themselves right out of the gate.

Warren has made a series of blunders that caused her to be mocked by those on both sides of the political aisle. The Massachusetts senator’s internet livestream left viewers feeling as bland as the beer she awkwardly swilled on camera, while she found herself apologizing to Native Americans and everyone else after her Cherokee Nation kerfuffle.

West-coast liberal darling Kamala Harris isn’t faring much better. On Thursday, the California Democrat endorsed the “Green New Deal” proposed by socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., a ridiculous plan that has been roundly mocked by Republicans and Democrats alike.

An FAQ page about the Green New Deal was quietly removed from Ocasio-Cortez’s website after the proposal went over like flatulence in an elevator.

Then again, she apparently knows a few things about flatulence. We’re not being crass: The congresswoman’s Green New Deal FAQ page discussed doing away with “farting cows” as a way to fight climate change.

“We set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast,” it said, according to CNBC News.

Did New York elect a class clown from middle school to Congress?

“At the time this story was published, the FAQ page with the phrase ‘farting cows’ appeared to have been removed from Ocasio-Cortez’s website,” CNBC continued.

While that might be amusing, other parts of the Green New Deal are downright terrifying.

The proposal to get rid of airplanes and end air travel would cripple the modern economy, and even Democrat Sen. Mazie Hirono laughed it off by pointing out that taking a train to her home state of Hawaii would be a bit rough.

But the Kamala Harris-endorsed plan also delves into pure socialism. It guarantees “economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work” (emphasis added), according to the since-removed FAQ on Ocasio-Cortez’s website.

Will Kamala Harris be the 2020 Democratic nominee?

Other parts of the bizarre proposal call for every building in America (yes, every single one) to be upgraded or replaced. Nobody is sure how much this would cost — probably because doing math based on unicorn dreams is fuzzy at best — but it would without a doubt be in the trillions and bankrupt the nation.

Even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., didn’t seem to take Ocasio-Cortez’s plan particularly seriously.

“The green dream or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is, but they’re for it right?” Pelosi said to Politico.

“Quite frankly, I haven’t seen it,” she added.

Seeing Harris eagerly endorse a plan that looks like a drunken socialist wish list and is being widely scorned just might summarize the state of liberalism today. Nobody seems to have any realistic ideas, and they’re just throwing things at the wall to see what sticks.

If candidates like Harris think they can win the White House by hitching their wagon to wild-eyed socialism, they might be in for a shock. That might win her points in the la-la land of California, but it also could hand Donald Trump a second term.
