Kirk Cameron's Co-Star Confirms Cameron On Board for Filming 'Growing Pains' Reboot
Reboots of our favorite TV series seem to be everywhere we look these days. From a reboot of “90210” to a fifth season of “Fuller House” on the horizon, fans can’t get enough of all the nostalgia.
While Candace Cameron Bure has been Netflix’s sweetheart in this regard for some time, it looks like her older brother, Kirk Cameron, may have a comeback of sorts in his future.
Cameron has become quite the celebrity since his time on “Growing Pains,” which aired from 1985 to 1992. He has gone on to film documentaries and star in major, faith-driven motion pictures like “Left Behind” and “Fireproof.”
But it seems his role as the lovable and sometimes overconfident Mike Seaver has always held a special place in his heart, even after all these years.
According to Jeremy Miller, who played Cameron’s younger brother Ben Seaver on the show, the original cast is on board with the idea of a “Growing Pains” reboot.
“I have spoken to both Tracey and Kirk and they are both on board,” Miller told Closer Weekly. Tracey Gold played sister Carol Seaver. The three TV siblings have remained close throughout the years.
Miller added that Joanna Kerns, who starred as super mom Maggie Seaver, has even shown interest.
“She would most likely only come back for a few episodes, since she is the busiest director in Hollywood,” Miller said.
“But if we could get her to direct the reboot that would be amazing,” he added.
“We loved our ‘Growing Pains’ family and we were blessed to be able to share that with America,” Miller said. “Being able to do that again would be very special.”
Of course, the show will never quite be the same without the late Alan Thicke, who passed away on Dec. 13, 2016, at the age of 69.
Cameron shared his thoughts on growing up with Thicke as his “TV dad” on Instagram shortly after the actor’s passing.
“I am so blessed to have grown up with him,” he wrote.
Miller said the reboot was originally Thicke’s idea, and that following through with it would really be a way to honor him.

The actor will reveal “secrets” about the reboot as the tour progresses, according to CBN. We hope we don’t have to wait too long to see a Seaver reunion in their own living room once again.
