Caught on Video: Man Rides Unicorn Float To Rescue Gosling From a Snapping Turtle

Share

While this story might sound a little far-fetched, we have the video evidence to prove it.

Over the weekend, Cary Coppola was driving past a pond near a golf course in West Des Moines, Iowa, when his wife noticed a gosling struggling in the water.

Coppola decided to help the little goose and drove to his brother’s house to grab a flotation device. He grabbed the first one that he could, which just happened to be a giant unicorn.

He went back to the pond and started to swim out to save the gosling from what he thought was a net wrapped around the bird’s foot.

When he finally reached it, he soon saw that it was actually a snapping turtle trying to drown the goose.

Coppola got a hold of the gosling and started to pull him and the turtle to shore while floating on his majestic unicorn. His brother was on shore ready to help free the little bird from the jaws of the turtle.

Once the gosling was free, he waddled toward his flock while the snapping turtle went back into the pond, waiting for something else to catch.

Coppola didn’t have any regrets about going out and helping the little goose, but his brother wished he took the pink flamingo floatie instead of the unicorn.

“He thought it would be funnier,” Coppola said.

When he posted the video of the rescue on Twitter, it didn’t take long for it to go viral.

“This is heroism at its finest! Nice work fellas!” one comment read.

Many news stations decided to take advantage of the unicorn flotation device and made some pretty unforgettable headlines.

“Not often you can legitimately use those words in a sentence and actually be talking about something that happened,” another viewer commented.

This little gosling was probably very grateful for the brothers helping it out and saving its life. The story is also one that many of us will not forget anytime soon.
