15-Year-Old Mother Buries Baby Alive in Field, Heroic Dog Comes to Child’s Rescue

Dogs are shining examples of loving others even when they’ve experienced hardships. So many dogs that have suffered still have such big hearts, and Ping Pong is just one of them.

The black and white dog from Korat, Thailand, is 6 years old and the Khaosod Newspaper refers to him as a “Thai breed dog.” His owner, a farmer named Usa Nisaika, has had Ping Pong since he was just a pup.

“Ping Pong was hit by a car, so he’s disabled,” Usa said. “But I kept him because he’s so loyal and obedient, and always helps me out when I go into the fields to tend to my cattle.”

On May 15, Ping Pong helped with more than just the cows. As he and the farmer walked through a cassava field, the dog was alerted to something along the outskirts of the field.

As Usa watched, Ping Pong started scratching at the dirt. Usa looked closer and was horrified to see a tiny leg sticking up through the dirt.

The farmer quickly dug out an infant who’d been discarded in the shallow grave and immediately took him to the hospital.

Miraculously, the baby boy was relatively healthy and unharmed, weighing in at just a little over 5 pounds.

After a police investigation, the mother was determined to be a 15-year-old girl who had feared her father would beat her if he found out she was pregnant.

She was arrested and is awaiting a mental health evaluation.

“Police officers are preparing to prosecute the mother but she is also a child and we must consider her mind and be professional,” the governor of Nakhon Ratchasima, Wichian Chantharanothai, said, according to The Mirror. “It is important that she is nurtured and treated fairly.”

“The parent of the mother have offered to take care of the baby when he leaves hospital but that has not been agreed yet,” the governor continued.

“A team of police and government welfare workers need to consider the safety of the children.”
