4 Adorable Kids Determined To Play Matchmaker for Their Single Dad

Share

Kids have a way of putting things rather… bluntly. They’re honest and don’t hide their real feelings about issues.

If a kid thinks something is gross or ugly, they won’t really stop to consider how the creator of the item they dislike will feel about their assessment.

They just say things.

But they also generally don’t mean any lasting harm with even their most brutally honest comments.

According to Seth Megow, one of his kids’ favorite embarrassing lines to blurt out is “WANNA MARRY MY DAD!?”

Which seems like a bit of an odd proposal, until you know the whole story.

This is Seth and his four kiddos. You may notice their mother is not currently present — there’s a reason for that, but not the reason most people think when they first see him with four littles in tow.

“Upon first glance, I’m pretty sure 99 percent of people see a husband treating his wife to a break from the kids when they look at me — just a guy driving the family mini-van around loaded down with four kids,” Megow wrote.

“Basically every time my kids and I go grocery shopping, meet new friends, attend school functions, pay bills, etc., people come up to compliment what a nice husband I am to give their mom some kid-free time, or my ever favorite, ‘looks like you’ve got your hands full today…’ Hahahaha.”

Perhaps you’ve even seen someone who fits this description shuttling a couple of kids around and have thought something along these lines. But our guesses rarely capture reality in its entirety.

“Normally I just smile and carry on with the conversation, because explaining that I’m a full time single dad of four elementary age kids brings on so many questions I just don’t have time to explain,” Megow wrote.

“However, I will say these conversations do cause confusion on the other end because if I’m talking to a female, there’s about an 82 percent chance one of my kids will loudly interject, ‘WANNA MARRY MY DAD!?!?!’”

It’s a bold move, but one his kids are clearly willing to try. It’s simple in a child’s mind: dad is not married, so why not try to get him hitched?

“Side note: my kids have made it their official mission to play matchmaker for their dad,” he added. “While it almost always is incredibly embarrassing, I have to admire their tenacity and creativeness in playing the wingman role.”

Megow and his four kids have had some heartbreak in the last few years. Megow met his wife as a teenager, and they were married at 19.

They lived as many do in those early years: barely scraping by, but so in love that the sacrifice was worth it.

Eventually they got stable jobs and began raising a family, but the marriage started to fall apart. Attempts were made to save the union, but Megow’s wife made it clear that she was done.

Of course this didn’t happen in the blink of an eye, but it still took Megow time to come to grips with the fact that he was now a single dad and was responsible for his little herd and their well-being.

So, instead of stewing in his own sadness, he put his effort and energy into making sure his kids were experiencing joy in their own lives.

They’re doing much better now, and he’s even able to co-parent with his former wife from time to time.

He’s open to the idea of remarrying, but he’s also not in any rush. But with matchmakers as cute as these four, he’ll be off the market in no time!
