When 7-Year-Old Boy Sees Kitten's Eyes, Knows it Was Meant to Be
Kids who get to grow up with pets have wonderful, built-in friends who are around for years.
Pets provide unconditional love and acceptance, which some people — unfortunately — do not seem to get enough of from other humans.
That’s probably part of why our culture reveres dogs and other pets so much. For some people, they make life bearable.
One little boy didn’t know what he was missing out on until a feline friend made his way into the little boy’s life. But this was not just any boy or any cat.
The boy, named Madden, was born with a cleft lip, cleft palate, and heterochromia iridum. His eyes are two different colors, which gives him a very striking appearance and is very unusual.
He’s dealt with questioning looks and unkind comments most of his life, and has starred in videos encouraging people to be kind, but then his mom Christina saw a post online that caught her attention.
“Last week, a friend posted an image of the cat in our cleft moms group,” she wrote on Love What Matters. “This kitty was taken in by a rescue group in Minnesota.”
“We knew immediately that this kitty was meant to be part of our family. Not only does he have a cleft lip like our 7-year-old son Madden, he also has complete heterochromia iridum, like Madden.”
“They were destined to be best friends. Funny how a pet can make you feel less alone.”
At first, the distance between themselves and the cat seemed great, but some caring individuals saw that the two were meant to be together and chipped in to help the boy get his cat.
“We have friends that kindly helped fund a road trip so that we could travel from Oklahoma to Minnesota to adopt this sweet kitty and bring him home,” Christina wrote.
The boy and his cat were clearly a perfect match. They share the same eye colors and the same cleft lip. With the cat, named Moon, around, Madden feels more at home.
He doesn’t have to explain himself to the cat, Moon just accepts him for the way he is. The two get along famously.
“I’m stunned at how this all played out,” Christina wrote, adding that it felt destined. “There’s no other explanation. This kitty was so far away from us.”
“I’m amazed that we found out about him, and even more amazed by the friends and strangers that helped us get to him, and adopt him. Everyone needs a friend, and everyone needs to feel understood.”
“I’m so thankful Madden has Moon. Not only so that both he and the kitty have a relatable and sweet companion, but also, I hope Moon helps Madden realize that being born unique in an incredible thing; that he is magic. These two handsome guys truly are a wonder.”
