Desperate and Shaking Mama Leads Them to House, Rescuers Confront Owner and Save Pups

Share

While many pet owners are conscientious and keep their pets contained, sometimes accidents happen and their beloved pup gets out into the wide world.

Well-meaning people who try to capture loose dogs have to be careful — some dogs are so terrified that they will run right into traffic if it gets them away from an approaching stranger.

The longer a dog is on the streets, the more difficult it can be to lure them back to safety.

One momma dog’s story is a little different. She did not have a conscientious owner, and yet she still wanted to trust humans — perhaps because there was more than her own life on the line.

The pit bull had been spotted wandering around a supermarket in Louisiana. Villalobos Rescue Center was called.

When rescuers arrived on the scene to assess her situation, she went right up to them. One man knelt down and called to her.

Timid and shaking but with a sweet look in her eyes, she crawled up to him, showering him with kisses when she got there.

She was skinny, losing hair, and had scars all over her. It was obvious from her swollen underside that she had puppies somewhere — but where?

Once they got a leash around her, she waggingly led them to a nearby house. They knocked on the door, and someone answered.

The man inside the house claimed that the dog didn’t belong to him but to his roommate, who was currently in jail.

If the man at the house was supposed to be caring for the dog and her puppies, he was obviously not doing a good job.

He told them they were bothering him, and they were forced to leave without the puppies.

Fortunately, after working with an attorney, they were able to get permission to retrieve the puppies from the house.

Some of the puppies were in a rather rough shape, but that wasn’t surprising given the condition of their mother. Thankfully they were all removed from the home and put into the hands of caring people.

Once they’re all better, they will be available for adoption. With dispositions as friendly as theirs, hopefully it won’t be long before people adopt them!
