Furious Koala Caught Red Handed Trying To Break In Through Doggie Door

Australia boasts a ton of interesting and terrifying animals. Where else would you find adorable fluffy critters alongside some of the most venomous?

When you think of Australia you might think of kangaroos, a variety of feathered critters and funnel web spiders, but fortunately, it’s also home to the cute-but-ridiculous-looking koala.

Most people’s interaction with these marsupials is limited to peeking at a slumbering ball of fur perched in a tree at the zoo, but locals in the right part of Australia see them first-hand from time to time.

One of the most terrifying things about the little gray and white fluffs is the sounds they make. They can actually be quite vocal and loud. They screech, cry and growl, and it’s a little unnerving to hear.

If the adults are cute, the babies are 10 times cuter. While they’re usually clinging to mom’s back, sometimes they get separated, necessitating a close encounter with humans.

Kerry McKinnon got to experience a baby koala bear up close when she discovered one had crawled into her yard and adopted one of her golden retrievers as “mum.”

Apparently her husband noticed first, and called her downstairs to see something.

“I didn’t know what he was talking about at first but then I saw this tiny koala snuggled on top of Asha,” she told Metro.

“I just burst out laughing. Poor Asha didn’t know what to think, she just kept looking at me with such a confused look. She looked a bit guilty when I came out to see what was going on. Her expression was hilarious.

“When we took the koala off to wrap it in a blanket, it hissed at me and carried on,” she added. “I think it would have been happy to have just slept there all day. It was really an amazing thing to see and so uniquely Australian.”

Now adding his own koala encounter story, Brenton Park has posted a video on YouTube. He and a friend were allegedly playing a scary game at the time, too, which made the proceedings all the more amusing.

“A mate and I were in the lounge playing a horror game on the PlayStation when we kept hearing tapping on glass,” he wrote on YouTube on Feb. 3. “My friend went to investigate but heard and found nothing so came back to the lounge.”

But the mysterious would-be intruder hadn’t given up so easily.

“The tapping continued and I got up and looked outside through the windows and turned the outside light on,” he saidd. “The cat flap moved and I jumped back to see a koala at the door. Quickly raced back to get my phone and filmed it.”

The koala seemed just as shocked to come face-to-face with a human at the doggie/cat door and started grumbling at Park, which was all caught on video.

No harm no foul — but as one viewer commented, it seems like having a doggie door in Australia is asking for trouble!
