Husband Doesn’t Believe Wife When They Win Lottery After She Pranked Him Weeks Earlier

Share

Pranks. Some people are fueled by them, and others are put out. You have to know someone really well in order to know how far you can go without making them plain angry.

It’s easier to joke about something that seems impossible — like winning the lottery. That’s probably why those rigged scratch-off cards are so popular amongst pranksters.

Some people just don’t know how to handle a joke, but Charlotte Peart and her husband Daniel are not those people, and the two like to mess with each other.

Married for five years, Daniel and Charlotte have three kids. They live in Whittlesey, England, and occasionally play the lottery.

Charlotte chose the lottery as her theme three weeks ago when she decided to play a trick on her husband. She told him they’d won £250,000 (about $320,000) and he believed her.

It’s strange and funny, then, that three weeks later they actually did win the lottery — and it was four times as much as the amount Charlotte had joked about.

But in a very “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” style, Daniel refused to believe his wife when she called him up and told him they were winners.

“I didn’t believe her at all because we like to wind each other up,” he said, according to Sky News. Probably a smart move, too, given their pranky past and the steep odds of winning the lottery.

Daniel was so skeptical that he put his brother on the phone instead to deal with his wife’s shenanigans. But this time, she was telling the truth.

“He didn’t believe me,” Charlotte said. “Actually, he said ‘I can’t talk to you right now love’ and ended up putting his brother on the phone. It was definitely crazy and not a normal day.”

The couple has already used some of the money to buy a Nintendo Switch and other toys for their three kids, and have plans to buy a house bigger than their current three-bedroom abode.

“With a family of five it gets a little cramped, a little tight,” Daniel said, according to Inside Edition. “All the kids have earned their own bedrooms, they’re all excited about that and we’re looking forward to the next adventure in our lives.”
