Michael Buble Overcome with Emotion at Son's Cancer, Walks Off 'TODAY' Stage
There are a lot of places artists find inspiration: life experiences, family, dreams, ideas… but it can very hard to draw on any of those and create when your heart is broken and you’re unsure about the future.
Especially when that uncertainty revolves around your own child. That’s what celebrity Michael Bublé experienced when his 3-year-old son was diagnosed with liver cancer.
The music star’s struggle has been front and center in his career, and he’s been very honest with his emotions throughout the process. Thankfully, his son is now 5 and is doing well, but that doesn’t mean Bublé simply forgot the pain they all went through.
At one point, he even claimed that he would no longer be making music — but fortunately for him and his fans, he found his way back to one of his first loves and has continued his career.
According to Business Insider, Bublé has learned a lot through the difficult experience.
“When you go through things like this that are so painful, there are two kinds of pain as Frank Underwood (a character from “House of Cards”) says. There’s pain that’s useless and there’s pain that you learn from,” he said.
“You learn a lot about life and what’s important and what matters and you stop sweating the small stuff because you realize that most of the stuff is the small stuff.”
In an interview with NBC’s TODAY show that aired on Nov. 19, Michael walked off stage when they played a video detailing his son’s journey. He made sure to explain why to hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb.
“I walked away when you guys showed the whole thing about my son because it sucks, it hurts,” he said.
“I remembered why I loved making the music.”

“We’ve gone through so many hard times and we’ve dealt with this and I’ve had to now answer the questions that it’s so much fun for me to sort of not look back at the past and to look forward to the future and be excited about life for our family and my boy and everything.”

In the past year Bublé and his wife have welcomed a new baby girl into their family of (now) five, and the future seems bright with all recent reports on his son’s condition being positive.
