Preschoolers Make Cookbook Together With Their Very Own Recipes for School

Share

Kids say some of the most amusing things. They’re clearly little humans, but the ideas they hatch and the way they see the world is refreshingly outlandish.

That fact has been the foundation of plenty of TV shows, books and comedy routines. As long as there are children, there will be new and hilarious stories to share.

This most recent childhood gem comes from Jordan Adams, who had the foresight to share a text crafted by the youngest chefs on the planet on his Twitter account.

“My nephews (sic) Ethan’s pre-k class made a cook book, and all the kids had to come up with all the recipes,” he wrote. “(S)o much better than I could’ve imagined.”

This cookbook has all the staples you’ve come to know, love, and expect in a collection of basic recipes: eggs, pancakes, tacos, and macaroni and cheese. But these kids put a spin on those old favorites that make them unique.

Pancakes are pretty straightforward, right? If you’re ambitious, you break out the flour, sugar, eggs, vegetable oil, milk and a few other things. If you’re not quite as ambitious, there are plenty of mixes you can choose from.

But “Sebastian’s Pancakes” beats both in its simplicity. There’s only one ingredient listed: “Salt and that’s it.”

With a listed “cost” of $70, that must be some pretty awesome salt.

The instructions take the (pan)cake, too. “You get a thingy from the house and put it in the hot thingy,” they read. “Turn on the hot thingy and it burns so you have to be careful. You make like, something and put it in and it cooks. Then you get a plate and finish it.”

Sounds like Sebastian’s been watching someone else make pancakes. But clearly the most important lesson of all has stuck with him: “Don’t leave the plate on the table, you have to throw it away in the sink or flies will get on it.”

If you have pancakes, of course, you’re going to want some protein to balance out the carbs. The Pre-K Cookbook has you covered with a fantastic recipe for “Ethan’s Eggs.”

Ingredients? Pancakes, sugar, and skittles. I mean, at least there’s a consistent train of thought there, until you find out you’re supposed to buy them at Texas Roadhouse.

“First you put pancakes and then sugar and that’s it,” the young cook must have narrated. “You can cook it, but you can go to my house and I will give you eggs because my mom makes eggs all the time.”

“You can eat them with a spoon,” the instructions continue. “Don’t put anything on them because that’s how you makes eggs, with nothing.”

If you’re more in a lunch or dinner mood, there’s Ariana’s Macaroni — and it comes with a free story.

The ingredients here are a little more out-of-the-box. You’ll need melted cheese, macaroni, apples, strawberries, toys, a backpack and a doll.

The instructions are on-target at first, but then there’s a story about swimming and annoying sisters and then a pro tip to blow on the macaroni to cool it down before you eat it.

Maybe these kiddos will grow up to be chefs or at least figure out how to survive on their own cooking — but they sure know how to tell stories!
